BTTF2 DeLorean Build - 1/24th scale Aoshima Model Kit.

Hi,

Had some time recently to tackle a long desired model kit that I've wanted to build for years.

The flight conversion DeLorean is my favourite incarnation of the titular vehicle from the Back to the Future trilogy and I was lucky to secure a kit from a local retailer.

It was a fun build, a little stressful, given that I decided to stretch my (mediocre) modelling skills to the edge.

Thankfully, my perseverance seems to have paid off.

The light rig consists of 4x 3.2V, 3mm LED light wired in a basic chain, going to a resistor and a dual switching device. The interior LED is a 3.2V, 3mm red LED wired via a resistor to a 9V battery and the switching device.

I built the diorama on the lid of an A4 sized document box I picked up from Officeworks. On reflection, I probably should have built it on and A3 sized lid because I ran out of space to build the Lyon Estates entrance plinths with the Lions guarding the entrance.

Bear in mind this was the first time I've built something like this, so I was really going on instinct. Still, I'm pleased with what I managed to achieve with no previous experience.

The lead acid battery for the headlights fits neatly inside the box along with the wiring and the interior light 9V battery, of course, fits in there as well.

Very nice for your first attempt at lighting. You always learn something new. This is a project I would also like to attempt in the future (no pun intended).

Don't forget to paint the lid on Mr. Fusion more white; the little bridge before it hits the black cylinder. Other than that, awesome!

Very cool lighting. If you should ever need any detailed information or types of paints to use on your next one (come on, you know you wanna) shoot me a PM. I was a member of the Time Machine Restoration Team as a detail variation consultant, so I can tell you quite a bit about the differences between all 7 DeLorean Time Machine's in terms of aesthetics.
