Luke Skywalker costume and prop from The Last Jedi - POSSIBLE SPOILERS

You guys are amazing!

No joke...man, if I only had the talent.

But I'm glad I started something here...and perhaps one day I'll acquire one of my own. :)

Nice Prototype! ... But to me the shape is a bit more varied, thick and thin... here is a sketch of what I think the shape is, based on that photo of Luke. There are also notches and things indicated but we may have to wait till the movie to find out.... the shape is the most important thing to get right though, if that's right then every one can carve any additional details as they are revealed.

I thought about the varied shape design you mention from the side view but as I looked at it I think it's just slightly tapered to the end. Luke's robes flare up over the cane in the pic so it's hard to tell really, but I definitely like your idea. The top view you have is really cool and if it doesn't end up looking like that it should have. :)

One thing I did do with mine, that you can't really tell from the pics, is that is it rough cut. That is, I didn't sand it smooth and there are bumps and notches, minor ones for sure, but I think it really helps with the overall look and feel of thing.

... Yes, it is hard to tell from that screenshot, I'm just wondering if it over laps a lot or very little, with the cast shadows it's hard to tell... Here is close up of the shadow, to me it looks like only the very edge of the robe is over lapping, but my eyes aren't what they used to be! Lol... Nevertheless, Love what you made! Can't wait to have one!

I can't wait to see more screen caps of this cane. I wonder if Luke carved it thinking of a krayt dragon from his child hood time on tatooine

Good evening all,
I have been lurking about but this thread caught my interest mainly because it matched my fairly limited shop and skill set. I knocked a first prototype togheter out of an oak branch I had laying about.

The oak led to most of the flaws, the mouth is too long, and the shape is off due mainly to the fact that the oak I was using was a pain to shape, and most of the shaping was done with a rasp and spoke shave.
