Anyone know a good food/liquor safe coating?

Lets say I wanted to drink liquor out of a painted prop cup... what could I coat it with such that I wouldn't ruin the finish on the cup or my health? I've looked around a little and haven't found much, but surely there is a solution.

What material is the cup?

The cup is 3d printed PLA but I intend to sand, prime, and paint before coating.

The closest coating I can think of would be countertop epoxy. It is endothermic, but it would be so thin it probably wouldn't mess with the PLA.

On a side note, I did stumble across food-grade polyester filament for printing:
