Successfully molded the Sintra panels! It took some experimentation and a little trial and error, but got the hang of it.
A couple of lessons I will pass on to other "Sintra Beginners":
1. Always heat your pieces from the back. The edges tend to roll a bit, and this limits visible warping of the edges on the front.
2. I found that using a tailor's ham to smooth and finish the edges gave a nice clean line.
I did break down and invest in a smaller sheet of Worbla for the mask and cowl (I am making one of each, so I can change the look of the piece if I want to). Already have the front piece shaped, and I am very pleased with my initial results.
