Hey all,

This site is amazing and I'm drooling over the talent. I've noticed a crazy amount of Iron Man / Captain America / Spiderman posts. They all look awesome. Personally, I'm really into bringing comics to life, things that haven't been done on screen yet.

My recent project is Young Avengers Patriot:

So far I've done the mask, belt and working on finishing up the shield. I placed perforated vinyl behind lenses inside the mask. Wanted to do that genuine "white out" effect in comics. Belt is made from Wonderflex and shield is a print that I designed, printed and mounted to aluminum. Added leather straps from an army surplus store. I'll probably stain the straps a darker brown. Ordered fabric for the top, waiting for that. Probably gonna do motorcycle boots. I think the add a lot of character and interest rather than solid black.

I'll post more stuff as it comes.

Loving the mask, specially what you did with the lenses. Does it mess up your vision when you wear it?

The shield is also looking very cool. Will definitely subscribe to this!

Hey Crashtered, thanks.

The vision is actually perfect through the vinyl. I'm from Toronto and they print ads on our streetcars using the same material. So people can see out but not in.

Same type of material I use on my general spiderman lenses. Visibility is very good through it :)

Great start so far, looking forward to seeing this completed :)

Long time since my first post!

My Patriot build went well. Got some gold stars for the shoulders from a local Army surplus store. Finished making my mask.
Found some awesome "quilted leather" looking fabric to use for his top.

The only problem was that my mask was WAYYYY too heavy for spirit gum. Kept re applying, but live and learn. Thinking about doing a Forge cosplay next, since I dont think anyone would ever want to be him. haha.

P.S. My top was sewn by the talented Melanie at www.adalaclothing.com, if you cant sew like me, she does amazing work.

Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.
