more hinge things. 32 in total, not to mention the number of times i had to cut each piece out glue, stick and repeat to strengthen the particular piece.
IMGP5945_zps8baeebb8.jpg

putting them together. The problem arose when i can't really stick them together if i want to take it apart and paint them later, but if left to their own devices, they'd fall apart in a heartbeat, so took a chance and stuck them together anyway...

Wow wow wow, I haven't been underestimating your progress but this is really inspiring. It's awesome. You are rocking right now! Go on, go on. Way to go!

Oh And maybe I can put up some progress (and it's true) tomorrow.:)
I'm still struggling with many tiny bits.:sick

Ah yes Katsu-san, sorry i was still updating and had to step away for a moment. Thank you for the encouragement :) makes it worthwhile. The following pictures are where i am as of now. I think i am about 80 % done, barring tiny details to be added and (maybe) paint.

cheers yeah, the detailing is maddening. so much left to add, bolts, wiring, plugs, more wiring, there's no end to it. also good work on the portal gun mate, i plan to build one someday but don't know if i have the requisite talent

WOW JUST WOW!
I can't even believe your making this out of paper! Don't get hung up on it not looking like a finished product during your build. You have so much going on here that looks absolutely awesome!

I've been checking in about once a month for the past few months and I just have to say... Wow, really ridiculous attention to detail!
You mentioned you were going to putty and sand later? you sure you'll be able to with such small, intricate paper pieces? I'd be happy with the way it's looking now, personally - but I'm not modeller.
Great job, keep updating!

Diegator the puttying and sanding will essentially be done just to cover up the bad gaps and even out edges and so forth. And yes, the small pieces are a bit of an issue. I wanted to paint and weather it but now I am not so sure anymore. Having never painted anything before except in my art classes at school many many moons ago, i'm not so sure I am up to the task. We shall see. Still got a ways to go. Thanks for checking it out man. And you are indeed a modeller if i ever saw one. Your helmet work is exemplary, the finish and detailing is something i aim to match in all my future builds. I must admit i too was a lurker and had subscribed to your thread so thanks for stopping by.

The attention to detail here is truly incredible. There is more work and detail in those feet than i put into my models............lol. Amazing stuff and a joy to see.

some updates. I was waiting till the site upgraded but oh well.

I began the construction of the upper arm (or bicep) for some of us who may be more anatomically inclined:

IMGP5972_zpsee4746de.jpg

more pistons and actuators. it's all i'm building lately:

IMGP5978_zps3f32bc45.jpg

added a thin metal sheeting for strength. this is where the original had just a piece of paper in the plans
IMGP5979_zps00ecdc1e.jpg

had to re-build these as well. the original, built out of paper was very thin and therefore unconcerned with thickness and the resultant problems it would have with other materials. since i'm building this from scratch with foam core, the parts mostly do not fit. and thus liberties have to be taken. thus the hinge thingies seen here have to be thickened with additional padding so as to not warp the entire part, i don't know how else to describe this, sorry.

Looking very sick my friend, it's friggin paper. I can't get over it, paper :D

Fantastic.
I had the same problem with images so i just put
, copy and pasted the link into this and it gave me big pictures

Gag

So many parts! I'd lose track of what goes where :p Looks amazing; can't wait to see more progress and the finished model

thanks mate, yeah it's mad. and it's nowhere close to done. still a lot to do.

thought i'd attempt to take a couple of pictures of the whole thing today. a very delicate operation as nothing is stuck to each other and prone to fall apart at the slightest movement. with thousands of pieces i would go crazy finding them all and matching them to their respective parts again. managed and here are the results:
