Steam/Dieselpunk Mecha

I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster and I think this is my first real foray into scratch building anything substantial.

So, I work in an environment that affords me some free time now and again, and using the abundance of plasticard scraps at my disposal, have begun to slowly put together a mostly improv mecha-thingy.

The true kernel of this idea came from the caps of a shipping tube that I opened, and inspiration sorta took over.

Most of the parts are made from scraps of wood, Masonite, and plastic parts I've been hording in my desk.

Beyond base planning mostly all of this has, and will be made up on the fly, and updates will probably fairly sporadic depending on how busy work gets this year.

Well, you're off to a nice start and that's some really clean detail work on the caps. Very nice! (y)

And make-it-up-as-you-go building can be really fun and sometimes results in cool things that you never would have thought of otherwise.

Spent the last few days doing some... legwork, and am excited to get to work on some sharp calves.

I think my overall silhouette for the body is going to be somewhat similar to a WH40k Knight or Reaver Titan.

Update time!

I've sorta sidelined this project in favor of doing my job and other smaller creative endeavors here and there.

IT HAS KNEES!!!

I started working on the "shoulder" mechanism which will roll around the main torso piece on shoddily made gears.

As a little side project I got a load of biodegradable packing peanuts and with a utility knife and copious amounts of saliva, rediscovered making nonsense characters. (side note: I just noticed the graffiti on the fence in the episode of Schitts Creek)
