MGSV Diamond Dogs Sneaking Suit

After playing MGSV, I immediately fell in love with the new Sneaking Suit developed for Diamond Dogs troops and Big Boss himself. I also loved the design since it's basically a throwback to the iconic Sneaking Suit of Solid Snake back in MGS1.

It was sometime around the end of November, a convention was coming up and I wanted to do a cosplay, I had two weeks to finish this bad boy in time for Hong Kong's Rainbow Gala which took place around the 20th of December.

First I had to sketch the vest itself, I took out some sheets of paper and scanned the entire look of the suit from in-game screenshots, concept art and the offical Play Arts figure.

Once I was done, I bought a roll of some EVA foam and began cutting out the templates onto the foam, unfortunately, there was only thin sheets of EVA foam and not those really thick ones so this was one of the reasons I couldn't nail the proper look of the vest

I sanded down the edges and began heat shaping it, I was pretty pleased with it, but felt i could have done more if i had thicker EVA foam

The next day, I began tracing out the very phallic looking back of the Sneaking Suit

After sanding down the edges of both the back and the chest, this was the final product

The next day after school, I rushed to my local fabric store to stock up on webbing for the harness and some shiny looking fabric for the vest

After burning myself with the hot glue gun, this was the finished vest

The base layer of the Sneaking Suit was basically just a grey track suit and a black sleeveless vest (not pictured), the SPIE harness, a pistol belt, knee pads and the pistol holster, the boots were just my normal casual leather biking boots

I had only 2 days left to finish the rest of the suit which was those black arm bands, the black forearm guard and the horn

I was disappointed with the Bionic Arm because I had to rush the paint job and the forearm and also how I had stuck it, the Bionic Hand was made from a black rubber dish washing glove and the pieces were of some plastic I had found, I cut them to the templates, melted them to shape with a heat gun and stuck them on with a hot glue gun

Had no time to put the bottom knuckles onto the hand unfortunately

I also made all the fingers the same length as my middle finger for accuracy, had a really hard time picking up things lmao

I had a camp that lasted three days from the 18 to the 20th so I couldn't finish other things such as making a good forearm piece for the Bionic Arm, the small radio piece that was stuck onto the front of the Sneaking Suit vest or the signature "Horn" of Venom Snake

On the 20th, after getting home from the camp, since I also didn't have time to make a custom carrying case for the Sneaking Suit, I immediately suited up and just got onto the train heading to the convention, had a few looks and even a few salutes and people shouting and calling me Boss or Snake, some dude had a total fangasm in front of me and took tons of selfies with me

Didn't take much pictures since we got to the convention late (Kept them waiting, huh?), but managed to get a few pictures of the full suit

Unfortunately, pieces of the Bionic Arm started falling off during the convention but luckily they fell off when I was about done with taking pictures and heading home (more looks and gazes on my way home, a kid even mistook me for Batman)

Again, it was rushed so I'm very sorry if you don't like the final product, I'm currently improving the suit for a convention on February next year so stay tuned! I also appericate feedback so I can learn from it and use it to improve more since this is just my second time cosplaying)
