Hey there everyone!
It been a while now since my Master Sword Build (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=250243) and its looking pretty lonely, so it's time to get cracking on the Hylian Shield!
Using EVA foam for this one, first time trying it but it seems so easy to work with based on all the information here and on YouTube, and I'm hoping for a much faster turnaround this time.
As per the sword I'm making the Twilight Princes version, though i'm not looking for it to be super accurate, i'll be making mall changes based on what I think looks cool.

So the to achieve the curve of the shield i didn't want to be adding lots of layers of foam or putty and sanding it to shape, so I rotated the sides out a bit on the pattern i'd made and then made a large dart in the centre, so that when i brought the sides together and glued them the foam curved on its own. (Was using a regular polyurethane glue at this point and took hours to dry and harden, so went out and got some contact cement soon after this). Afterwards just filled in the seam with some acrylic gap filler.

Next I cut out the border pieces, I chamfered the edges the give it a bit of added depth and dimension. In the game and concept art the border seems to be all one piece but I like the way it looks with them as visibly separate pieces, similar to the Man At Arms Hylian Shield Build (If you haven't seen that video go check it out, it's awesome!

So that's where i'm at at the moment, really pleased with the way it's looking.
Would love to know what everyone thinks, thanks for checking it out!
