Your favorite Book Prop

My Wish / To-Do List:

1. John Winchester's Journal (Supernatural)
2. Winifred Sanderson's Spellbook (Hocus Pocus)
3. Angelique Collins' Spellbook (Dark Shadows)
4. Grandpa Munster's Spellbook
5. Handbook For the Recently Deceased (Beetlejuice)
6. "How I Did It" by Victor Frankenstein (Young Frankenstein)

...wow...I just looked at this list and realized I have a hell of a lot of work ahead of me...

Has anyone ever attempted a replica of "The book of Saruman" from Lotr?

Good question...and I'll add to that. Has someone ever recreated the pages of the Balrog, Door to the Mines of Moria, and etc.

Not sure where I got theses, but had them on the hard drive, hope they help!

hope that helps, and if someone can let me know where I got them so I can credit the original poster, that'd be cool too!

The only replica book I have at the moment is Halsey's journal from the halo Reach game and book.

Antrock's "Grimoire of the Gash" still holding up nicely after all these years

and the AWESOME "Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows" that Rogue428 did a run of some years back

Can someone please post a template for the lettering on the TO SERVE MAN book (if one exists)? I'd love to use it as my actual kitchen cookbook. :)

OMG I would *LOVE* that book! Where to I get one? :D

As for my favourites, the Grail Diary of course, then the Necronomicon ans Rasputin's spellbook from Hellboy.

Is there a template up for "The Man Inside Me?" I love Arrested Development, and I cannot think of a better present to get my mother than that book!

My turn!

Am a Doctor Who nerd, so... I've *done* a few of the books from the show. Namely the Classic series, and mostly Sylvester McCoy's era!

I've bought some of these from eBay, have yet to "make" any though - proper pictures of my McCoy costume with these will be coming soon!

From "Remembrance of the Daleks"

I have a scan of this one if anyone wants it - its been cleaned up in Photoshop etc.

Next, I would love to try and find the Juggling one from "Greatest Show in the Galaxy". And find a copy of the "The Time Machine" from the TV Movie

I would also love to attempt to make the TARDIS manual (this incarnation seen around/in "Terminus"?)

Any others... as and when I think of them!

@ davidnagel that juggling for the complete klutz is available on amazon for as little as a penny plus postage.

cheerio

aye I noticed but I'm looking for the 1980s edition we see in the programme - unless it is and I'm not seeing it lol

I'll check it out - thanks

From the movie Performance, in which two characters are seen reading from it. In fact, Turner (played my Mick Jagger reads a bit from it in one scene, video link, at 3:38). I'd love to get my hands on this one.

well, dang it. i saw this thread thinking that it was about props FROM books (which nobody seems to make). but if i had to pick my favorite book prop, it would probably be John Winchester's Journal from Supernatural.

Mine would have to be the Book of Mazarbul, from the Mines of Moria in LOTH. Here's my version:

OK, I know I'm going back a hell of a way here, but WOW. That's glorious.

Not a book per se, but how about Isildur's scroll from FOTR?

Darn right; a framed copy of that would be a nice thing to have.

hi iam margreen iam new and i was wondering if you have a amun-ra book from the mummy that your selling with the key that opens it or do you know any one who does thank you very much

Welcome aboard margreen. You should post a "wanted to buy" thread in the Junkyard once you are out of provisional membership status and can access that section.

Here is the book prop - virtual, albeit - which I'm most obsessing over lately. Love the movie, love the prop, love Nico Marlet's art, couldn't at least SOME of the books, maps and other papers in the film have made it into the damned art book?!? Mutter, grumble:
