Hello everyone!

I have been busy making another life-size figure, Ymir! I had not ever heard of this figure or movie until Tom Spina told me about him and sent me pics of it. First of all I want to give a huge thanks to Tom for all of the great pics he sent me and input he had on this figure :)

Now on to the pics!

Holy Schnikeys! :eek

Until you told me you were making this a few months ago, Richard, I never thought I'd see a human-sized Ymir. I've loved the movie since I was a kid, and the Ymir was one of my first and favorite monsters ever--although I did root for the dog and the elephant.

Anyway, as usual, you did an amazing job! When I look at your recreation I can hear that high-pitched scream coming out of him. Scary!

Two thumbs way up! :thumbsup :thumbsup

At first glance I thought "oh, he's working off a really detailed model" and then you were standing next to it and HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! Gorgeous!

I'll chime in as well here... couldn't be more impressed with the way Richard brought this one to life!

As always, he captured the "feel" of the character as well as the details, and made an incredibly cool display :)

When he sent me the final pics, I couldn't resist doing a little photoshop on it... with some film grain and the coliseum in the bg, it looks straight out of the film! :D

Great job as always Richard, no doubt the new owner will be VERY proud of this piece!

20,000,000 was my favorite film while gowing up. You've truly done the Ymir justice!

Absolute gangbusters! You had me fooled, too. Also thought it was like 18" tall until.... Really outstanding. (y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup

That's a lovely piece of work. Has Ray seen the pictures? If not, I could pass them along to him - I'm sure he'd be impressed.

I'd like to sign up for a run.....:)

Seriously, one of my favorite Harryhausen movies and characters. You did it justice and if you haven't already, send a pic to Ray through his website.

Great job! :thumbsup

Hey Rich,

Was just gonna email this but since you posted, the new owner's got a contact for Ray and is sending pics along...

:)

Tom

I also belong to Stopmotionanimation.com and many professional stopmo animators frequent the forums, many of which know Ray (he chimes in every once in awhile).

I know they ALL would love to see your Ymir and also will be able to get a pic to Ray.
