Yet another ANH Vader beltbox discussion

I was studying the beltboxes to my eyes hurt.
A question came to mind. Is it really screws that holds the top lid on?

The more I look at it, it looks more like the same type of a locking mechanism, you have on a teltpole.

Any views on this?

Those boxes were electrical junction / component boxes.
The use of a spring-centred system would be
a) impractical because it would recess too far inside the box on both sides.
b) would be unsafe.

They are short threaded screws my friend. Nothing more.

I hold that they are just screws.

Unless my eyes deceive me, you can even see the notch on top.
