Yes indeed, another Deadpool movie costume

Hi,

I've been a RPF member for some time but just watching and being inspired by other member's projects.
I've been working on a Deadpool movie costume for a few weeks and at a slow pace but I thought that it would be a good idea to start sharing it with this great community.

I do not having WIP pictures for most of that stuff I've built already but here is where i'm at so far.

Faceshell
DP - Faceshell.jpg
Working with the ASM2 faceshell available, I printed it on paper, assembled it and then put some bondo on it.

DP - Eyes.jpg
I have had 3d printed the model Kenlandrum has made available on his forum for the eye pieces. The guy I dealt with had a hard time getting the edges right. I will have to figure out a way to make the edge and glue them on.

Holdsters
DP - Holdsters.jpg
I'm trying to make as much of the pieces myself as I can. The holdsters were handcrafted.

Here is the finished product
DP - Holdsters 2.jpg
The plastic parts were made from wonderflex, painted and then attached to the fabric with chigaco screws. I used a desert eagle I had printed and assembled to get the exact shape. I did a stress test to see if I could backflip without it falling out and it works amazingly well. No flying gun so far.

Gun
Here is the Desert eagle I had 3D printed.
DP - Gun.jpg
The gun came in 5 pieces, that I had to sand and glue together, With bondo, I worked the seams and then applied XTC-3D to give it a smooth finish. The results is not great. I lost a lots of the details like the writing on the sides of the gun. I'll have to find a way to engrave it with a dremel. There are some spots that need work as well before I can mold it and cast it to make the two I will need. Tial and error since it was the first piece I had 3d printed and worked with.

Knife
DP - Knife.jpg
The sheath of the knife was printed based on Kenlandrum's model made available. I finished it with XTC-3D then painted it. The knife blade was made using foamy and wonderflex while the handle was created out of foam. It took a lot of sanding and ajusting the blade to make sure it would fit. Despite not being exactly like the movie version, i'm pretty happy with the results. I only need to paint the blade, seal the whole thing and we're good to go.

Belt
DP - Pockets.jpg
All the pockets were sewn by hand, my girlfriend was hospitalized and I did all of them rocking my way in a chair at her side. Just like a old person. It came out pretty good, I have to work the shape a bit, get some velcro that have them hold, weather them and assemble them on the belt. Next step will be to make the belt buckle. I plan on sculpting the buckle with clay and then molding it. It will be my first attempt at molding so wish me luck. Desptie having watched a lot of Faceoff and all the videos by Punished Props I'm still a little nervous and hope everything will go well. I'll show you the results soon.

I'll be making the swords and back piece by hand as well. I'm trying to buy as little pre fabricated stuff as possible.

My deadline if for Montreal's Otakuthon in August so hopefully this will keep on going well till then.

Thanks for your interest in my project. If you have any tips that can help me, I'm all ears.

Cheers

Hi,

Progress is going slowly since I got a new baby girl that arrived a few weeks ago, but not that I caught back on my sleep I started modeling the belt buckle.

Here is where i'm at.
Belt Buckle -DP-JFC.jpg

Still a work in progress but coming along nicely. I'll have it 3d Printed afterwords.

I'm trying to make the center part removable so that I can clip it on like an actual belt. Unlike all the 1 pieces I see around.
I'll keep you guys posted once it's complete.

Cheers

Hey there,

The belt buckle is modeled and off to the printer. I decided to print the center part individually and the attachment seperatly. I will sand, mold, cast, paint and glue everything together afterwords.
The other reason I chose to do it that way is because I noticed in some reference picture that there seems to be an additional support behind the buckle.
Buckle-discovery.jpg

So I might attempt to do something like this as well is I find there is not enough support.

The pockets for the belt have been sewn so I attacked the little flap for each.
Started by making the templates from foamie and cutting them.

I then cut two pieces of wonderflex that I warmed up using a heat gun and sanwiched the foamie.
belt bags2.jpg

With a popsicle stick, I pressed the wonderflex into the whole to give it that dent they all have and trimmed the excess with scissors and a knife, I cut some of them too close to the edge, so the wonderflex would not stick anymore. Crazy Glue fixed all of that.

The problem now it that I find them to be too thick. I'm thinking of sculpting a new one out of clay and then molding new ones. I can make sure they are all the same that way and finally get to play with the smooth-on products I bought.

I'm getting the buckle tomorrow. I'll post new pictures as soon as I have them. I"m hoping to have the belt completed by the end of the week.

In the mean time I started planning for the swords. EVA Foam, metal rod for the inner armature and a PVC pipe for the handle. I'll post the progress on that because I also plan on having one completed by the end of the week.

Hopefully everything will be completed by Montreal's Otakuthon in august.

Cheers
