X-34 Landspeeder Plans from the 70s

Hello All! I have come across the plans for a "Surface Speeder" X-34 landspeeder that I got from an add in I think Popular Science or Popular Mechanics back in the 70s. My Grandfather and I built it and made some modifications to it, and it actually worked fairly well. Even though I was heavier than it was supposed to be able to lift it still worked ok on a flat surface. I have included a PDF of the cover of the plans packet, they are larger than the scanner I have, so if anyone has any ideas on where to take them to get them scanned I will be happy to post the scans to the RPF. The main modification we made was to have the whole unit that consisted of the engine mount blower fan, directional veins around the blower fan and the housing around that made by the fabricator where my Grandfather worked! We were a little hesitant to make all of that out of plywood. Pluss they balanced the blower fan (36 inches in diameter) really well so no vibration from it spinning.

Maybe scan it part by part. there is software around for stitching partial scans together. Since the plans are folded already you got a "grid" for scanning since you can fold it the other way round to get each section to the outside.

Engineering or design firms are probably your best best to get it done with little to no cost, but you will need to know someone there. Its unlikely that you would be welcomed right off of the street. Otherwise most print shops that deal in wide format media would be able to do the scan.

They are kid of fragile folding back and fourth is not a good plan for these I pondered that possibility. I am going to see if that is a print shop that has a larger format scanner that I can use I think.

Too bad that almost no consumer scanner allows detaching of the lid for scanning oversized stuff...

I found a place to have these scanned they are 17 X 23 inches and there will be 6 pages. I will have to hold off till next month. I am on disability and have spent the extra I have this month already on the holiday! I will get them uploaded as soon as I get them onto a Flash drive.

Kinkos. I took a huge survey/blueprint for my HOA to Kinkos and they scanned it to PDF and [correction] JPG TIFF for me, which I then edited further in Acrobat Standard. (Yes, there are many PDF editing apps out there; I know Adobe's so well, my fingers change tools without any conscious effort.)

I have a Office Max That can scan it. close to me. It will be $5 per page so I have to do it next month. Hopefully it will be clear enough that all of the measurements are readable.

When you have them scan it, tell them to scan to a TIFF (uncompressed) or PNG (lossless compression) at like 1200 dpi or better.

My Associations landscape survey was blueprint size and I think the high res PDF is 30MB-40MB. Yeah, bring a BIG flash drive (I use a blank so there's no worries that they overwrite anything, or I lose anything if they need to reformat it for their equipment).

Oh, the TIFF was 8MB. Seriously large file for a b/w grayscale image.

I would really be interested in these- you may be able to take them to a local print shop or even take pictures of them?
