Wraith - Xanador Nekrid

Good evening.

This is Xanador Nekrid, a Wraith that is about 300 years old, but has lost the memory why this is, most likely it has something to do with a Voodoo queen. His personality is like a more evil version of Jack Sparrow, maybe mixed with Beetlejuice...

This is a costume I've been working on for some while, but barely got to do any work on it because of too much junk everywhere, so I need to relocate that... But I finally got the time to start working on it again, and it turned out much different from what I had imagined.

I got some shiny pants from an old girlfriend, had some old boots that I fixed up, also fixed up my first Vader gloves, then wanted to make an under-coat for another full-length coat. After having started on the under-coat, I realized that it could look good as a main outfit if I added an old cape from my first childhood Vader costume, and I now had a different costume done than what I had planned.

Cool thing is that after deciding not to wear lenses for this costume, my eyes glowed red in the photos anyway, so I highlighted it instead of taking it away. It's hard to see in the photos, but I'm also wearing veneers with all sharp teeth. The full-length coat and other items will be made later. I've planned on having various clothing items and wigs for this costume so it won't just look the same all the time. He didn't wear the same clothes for 300 years...

Hope you all like it.

Re: Xanador Nekrid

forgive my ignorance, but Is this an original character? Just curious. If I might offer a little input though. It would help you greatly to break up your face makeup with some highlights and shadows. Right now you have a big, glowing, blue blob. If you were to shade your cheeks some and work some different colors in to pop your bone structure, I think you will find it has a more powerful effect.

Re: Xanador Nekrid

Whoa... I won't wanna bump into you in the woods when you're wearing that costume...:confused

Re: Xanador Nekrid

@Darth Mule - The reason why you've probably never heard of him before is because he's original. Probably the highest media it will be featured in are YouTube films... I thought about highlighting some areas on my face, but it seems the makeup I use for it is not very good for that, it needs to be really wet to be applied, so trying to highlight the cheekbones or something with white makeup will only turn into a distinct white blob on each cheek. I see your point though, so perhaps I could try some air-brushing later at some point in time.

@kalkamel - Hehe, I guess it's scary enough then. Actually the reason why I started working on this again is because I found a flyer with the info there will be a Halloween event at my home town, far inside a mine. Naturally I take every oportunity to scare the living fudge out of anyone:lol

Re: Xanador Nekrid - The Immortal Wraith

I remember your first thread about this guy! :thumbsup I like the concept, and I think it's a great start.

I agree with what Darth Mule said. It just looks like a guy with blue make-up, the skin tone doesn't look natural. Natural isn't really the best word to use, I guess, in this case. But highlighting others areas with a blush would probably help. Also tone done the black around the eyes to a greyish blue, something that would look like natural dark circles for some blue skinned guy.

Weathering / aging the costume would be great too.

I have to admit, your English is better than mine...and I was born and raised here! :lol I cannot properly articulate what I am trying to get across.

Edit: Did you ever get that robot you were looking for?

Re: Xanador Nekrid - The Immortal Wraith

Ah yes, that thread was made a long time ago, so I thought I'd make a new one since the first was just to get ideas for something like this. Thanks, didn't turn out too bad, I guess. I do agree on the skin tone, I wanted it to be lighter blue, but that was the only one I found. Does look more like makeup than blue skin. His skin is only blue, so the black makeup on his eyes and lips are meant to look as if he's been smearing black makeup all over his face, so no need to blend that in. I've also tested the makeup before, having a sort of "Pris" style black stripe across my eyes.

I'm gonna have it like this when wearing the full-length coat, perhaps I can try some highlighting then.

Here's the face as it was the last time. I really do look like a sick *******...

The original test was much lighter blue, but the makeup was bad.

There's just something with the lighter blue that makes it look more like a dead heavy-metal artist, rather than a non-human Wraith. Hmm...

This other guy is just as dark, so it seems. I have no method to get the makeup that good though.

I didn't get the time to weather the costume, so I'll throw it around in the dirt some day. The photos were so dark that it all looks black anyway.

Hehe, well to make you feel better about your English skills, no matter how good a Norwegian guy can write it, we still sound like idiots when we try to speak it...

About the robot Modulus, I've come a long way on this, and have actually talked to a guy who owns all three versions of it that he is willing to sell to me, so now it all depends on getting the cash and hearing from him again. He is also going to call a guy who might be the guy who made the robots, if it is him, I might perhaps get a "biggest fan" discount or something.

Re: Xanador Nekrid - The Immortal Wraith

I found lots of photos of various beings with dark blue skin like this, so it seems not all of them are light blue once they are blue, and I actually like the dark blue color of the skin now, fits with the other darkness of the character. Not even humans have the same color, so why should wraiths?

I guess I could highlight it a bit, but I just got to mind that it could perhaps look more realistic as a blue skin color if I drew red and blue veins all over my face before applying the makeup. I know some people paint veins on various creature models and such before painting the final coat to make it look more real, so perhaps it could work.

If you have any other tips on how to make it more realistic, then please share.
