Would a stamp of the RPF logo be cool on a display box?

I had a question posed to me, and frankly I am a bit stumped.

When it comes to display boxes (i.e. gift boxes for crystal projects, etc), would it be "cool" to have a little RPF logo hot foil stamped on the box? Something to sort of identify "Hey, this is a RPF project, awesome!"

I think it would be kind of neat to have on there, somewhat small and on a corner or something. I don't like the idea of using studio logos on anything for obvious reasons, but I think the RPF badge is just "neat" enough to look interesting on the box.

So... potential buyers of shiny things (from me and any other people on the board who may have access to hot foil stamps), would you rather have a blank top box or a little RPF badge on there somewhere?

Post up, cause I am curious about the feedback on this.

Chris

Please note : mods, this is NOT an interest thread as I have no upcoming projects, this is mainly just a "if you have to display a prop, would this look cool" thread. I popped it in the main forum since it isn't really off topic, and it isn't me selling anything.

Yes, so if there was any question of where unlicensed replicas are sold from, the studios will be able to come right here to start sending out C&D orders.

Great idea.

:confused

I think it's an awesome idea, a lot of great stuff is made on here and that'd be a good way to identify it. It get's two thumbs up from me! (y)thumbsup

Like Tusken Raiders, RPF members ship in plain boxes to hide their numbers... ;) :lol

Have you thought about making some embossed stickers like you see on some candy boxes? I don't know about them, but I suppose you could have them made somewhere.

I agree about the legal thing. At least George Lucas doesnt need to go hunting.

If this is to help encourage/drum up sales I dont think a rpf badge is the way to go for most people.

People want the money a seller receives spent on secure packaging, quality, accuracy, speed of delivery etc etc.

I think a rpf sticker is low down the list.:lol

Hmmm yeah doesn't interest me much if anything it would be better to have the artists name or sudonym on the box afterall the RPF doesn't make anything it's the members.

Well, if you could just make the stamps and sell them to members online, kinda like stickers I know I'd pick up a few.

If you think that the studios DON'T know what we are up to, you are in severe denial. We get visits from them pretty regularly (or at least we used to). We are one of the top hits on google for "replica prop", so I doubt the club is quite that "secret" anymore. It hasn't been for a few years now.

As far as the foil stamping goes, I didn't mean it as a drum up sales kind of addition, but more along the lines of something neat to add to a box. Sort of like having a small version on a business card or a COA if you do a project run.

adamata did a run of magnets a while back with the logo (memorial for Wayne), so I think he might be able to do stickers for those who are interested in em. No idea on if he can do embossing though.

I dunno, it just seemed like it would make a nifty addition. It seems like a waste to have a cool logo and not use it for anything.

I still don't see what you'd use them for?

As someone else said, the RPF doesn't make anything?

The easiest way if you wanted to do this would be to use a suitable sized sheet of Avery labels, print a batch in colour and just cut them out.

On the other hand, if people really want these, maybe they'll buy bumper stickers, keyrings, pogs, tie pins, pens and other promotional gift items. Maybe there's huge market for you with RPF Brand trinkets! :)

I own a Vinyl graphic shop and we make stickers and shirts, but they are more like solid colors, no fading, and they are not color printed they are cut out of colored vinyl using a plotter.
so if it was something simple i could possibly do some stickers for you guys..
