World of Warcraft: Who Plays?

I had this thread up a while ago, but it looks like we lost it.

I've been playing since 2008 and heavy into raiding (BC, Wrath and very first part of Cata). When I got laid off in August, I quit.

My friend recently sent me a scroll AND has been paying my subscription, so now I am back. Nothing serious right now, but I am glad to be back (read: addiction). :lol

Who plays?

Toon, Server...

I was horde (troll, then Goblin), but pulled him over to Ally to be with my friend.

Pellegrino, Arygos - lvl 85 SPreist.

If anyone wants my Real ID, just send me a PM.

Prytania, Feathermoon. I stick to PvE mostly. I find raids to be a pain in the ass and too time-consuming for my taste.

Playing TOR at the moment, though.

Horde, Burning Legion. Also have some old Ally toons on Eredar.

Two 85s (pally/shammy), trying to keep myself un-bored until MoP launches, at which point I'm probably going to switch my main over to monk and keep the other two for support (they have useful professions).

I doubt I'll ever get hardcore into raiding, probably just grind heroics for gear like I did back in Wrath (tank=no queues!). Took most of Cata off, and it's too close to MoP to bother trying to gear up when it'll all be replaced with quest greens in a few months.

i was just yesterday thinking of starting a thread, because i wanted to ask if anyone is still playing
i stopped like 2 years ago, right before the patch for deathwing hit

and im glad i stopped, because i was really addicted, too. i played in one of the top guilds in the world, and it seriously cut into anything else i did. i played for like 6 hours a day, because of all the stuff you had to do for the guild, and all the stuff you did for yourself (achievementpoints were killing me, i had most on my server back then), i had 6 toons, all lvl 85, and all fully geared, so that took quite some work.
but it started to drag and it seemed like work, and so i quit.
thought about getting back into it, but i dont think i ever will, because it will just cut into my other stuff way too much again.
it was cool in classic and BC, it got too casual in WotLK, and it was ok in cata
im hearing they are going to release mists of pandaria soon, maybe i will still check it out.

That's why I tend to play more "casual", without getting into a raiding guild. Our guild has a total of three active users, and by "active", I mean "logs on once or twice a week". Even when I was playing more, before I took a year or so off, I was only running heroic 5-mans, on my time, and not on any fixed schedule. Or doing PvP, but I don't even do that any more.

I leveled a druid right after Cataclysm came out, and ended up dropping him at lv70 because it was the fourth damn time running through Northrend. Now I just use him to fly around old world and gather herbs to make money. I don't think he'll ever see the north side of lv80. I just hope I don't end up feeling the same way about my monk, I'm actually looking forward to playing him.

I played from beta, ended with 9 85s... when they started giving firelands gear for free (points vs drop) I walked away. Never looked back. I have probably 400K in gold spread out there.

I just got back into it. Horde, Dalaran server. I was playing TOR but after I maxed out my main and couldn't bear the thought of running all those quests again on an alt. Then my brother got Cata and sent me a scroll of Resurrection. It even came with the cataclysm expansion for free so I bit the bullet. We got our old guild back together (we had all been on TOR) and have been working our way through the Cataclysm dungeons. We've cleared the basic ones multiple times and are working our way up.

Deathwing shall fall.

I was playing it through most of WoLK, however when Cata came out and they messed up Ret pallies ability to spam Whirlwind from the set bonus(forget the exact name of the move) stopped playin and have not looked back since. Now Playin D3 for the past few months and loving it.

I play WoW... quite a bit. Got 4 85s, all Horde. Demonology Warlock, Beast Mastery Hunter, Retribution Paladin, and a Frost Death Knight. My server is Vek'nilash. I am part of a guild, they're fairly active, we mostly do dungeon runs, and raids (only if we can get enough people, luckily one of the guild leaders are friends with another guild leader that is part of a far more active guild. We co-run raids with them.). I mostly quest and do dungeons, I can't stand PVP, I love the Horde but they SUCK at PVP on my server. The only time I PVP is to get some PVP gear.

i'm currently working on a Druid, and a Shaman. I'm sure some of you can relate, but I tend to start new toons and just end up forgetting about them. They're both in the high 40's-ish range.

I only played because a lot of my guildmates and other friends from Guild Wars played WoW. I quit before Cata came out. Had an 80 Belf rogue and an 80 Belf DK. Both on Illidan. Both had T9 DPS gear and I was playing 3's in arenas and a 2200+ rating. I found BG's boring especially Wintergrasp. And then when raiding and PvP became a chore, I knew it was time to give it up especially when the most "fun" I was having after a while was ganking the auction house NPC's in Exodar and Stormwind.

Went back to Guild Wars for real PvP (skill > gear) and haven't looked back since and now awaiting Guild Wars 2 next month.

I played since about three months or so after it went live up until recently when TOR went live. My toons are primarily on Terenas - Leate, my NE hunter and Twylyte, my NE druid, both 85s. I'll probably get back into it a bit more in awhile but for now TOR has me in its deathgrip. :)

Horde, Aggamagon

i started in Wrath, never payed for the game, made it lvl 60ish, then started paying wen Cata. i have an 85 demon lock and some lower lvl toons.

Yeah, I told my wife I would only raid 4 nights a week...which I did, BUT the other nights were for farming. I'd spend hours just flying around herbing so I could buy enchants and food and make pots.

A friend of mine was in Elitist Jerks back in Vanilla. We were out to eat, and one of our friends asked what WoW was like and he replied "Well, you guy into a place to kill some monsters to get their purple pants. Bascially whoever has the best purple pants win."

:lol Sadly, that is very true with raiding. I remember in Wrath being one of the first guilds on our server to down the Lich King, and being the 7th best SPreist on the server (based on gear, achievments and DPS).

When Cata came out, I got to 85 in about a week, got raid ready by the next week and we started raiding. It was so boring. I just wasn't into it anymore. It was such a grind. I did PvP and Arena for a while, but as soon as the Season 9 patch came out, I was done. I played for a little bit, but was laid off at work, and decided it was time to quit.

When TOR came out, most of my guild left WoW for it. Got bored of it after 3 months and came back.

I had been playing...until TOR came out. My subscription is still active, but lord knows why. I haven't logged into the game in months. I was on Argent Dawn, 85 druid/Felbear. Alas, he is in the Emerald Dream and will likely remain so.

Squirk, did you have to jump servers on TOR? I did...and am on Ebon Hawk.

Have they cut servers down on TOR?

Yeah, they overreached a bit in my opinion. I'll say this though, I am having more fun PvPing in this game than years of WoW. My PvE side is lacking right now, but I am running guildless. I did it in WoW too. Guilds are too much the "Cult of Personality" thing for my tastes. Things always go south.

Rift did the same thing though.

People are waiting for the WoW killer, but it just hasn't happened yet. Not really sure why. I think WoW should completely revamp everything (Humans for example just look terrible - its the same mapping from 8 years ago!).

The last guild I was in (for raiding, you have to have a reputation and you have to apply, parse DPS from a night of raiding...much like applying for a job)...well they all hated me. It didn't bother me much because I still got into raids and still got loot. They just hated me to hate me. No idea why, so I made every oppurtunity to troll them.

Our GM rage quit one night and got rid of 2/3's of the guild...and somehow I made the cut. After that I gained a lot of respect.

Well, some insiders are saying subscription based MMOs are going to slowly die anyways. So, there will be no WoW killer aside from time. Microtransactions and Free-to-Play seem to be the way most companies are heading. It has revived a few games. For me, TOR is about Star Wars and that was good enough to keep me into SWG until the NGE officially killed THAT game.

Ya know, TOR has a "Free up to level 15" thing going right now.

Most micro-transaction MMO's are that way because no one plays them anymore. I tried LotR online a couple of years back. It was terrible, and the players that played before it was free - were spiteful to the influx of free-players.

I don't have any desire to play an new MMO. I was invited as an Alpha tester for Tera, and I never did anything with it either.

Alliance, Lothar.

I do solo and single party PvE mostly - got my fill of raiding in EverQuest. My little guild fell apart during Cataclysm, so I met back up with an old guildmate from Vanilla and we're trying to build another little family guild so we can do the MoP dungeons with friends.
