Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory Shadow Box

Hey RPF -
Rookie propbuilder whipping up a quick mini-prop as a Christmas gift for my mom who's a fan of the original Willy Wonka film. I couldn't even begin to have done any of this without inspiration and pioneering work done before me by Pitbull, RevEggy, and a few others. This is a very simple prop so don't expect much:

1. Had the Wonka bar and "lickable" wallpaper printed on glossy cardstock at FedEx Office. The Everlasting Gobstopper I made out of Gesso (sp?) clay and just painted acrylic paint. I regret coating it with the glossy finish, however.

2. Here are the Wonka bars done. The Scrum and Wonka bars are just pieces of wood cut to size, edged in aluminum foil and with the wrapper glued around. Real simple.

3. This is the setup of the shadow box. I printed the golden ticket onto goil foil scrapbook paper using a plain laser jet printer at work. I also purchased a glass purple bottle at Hobby Lobby and labeled it with a Fizzy Lifting drink label. The label is God-awful but I'm not a graphic designer and frankly I had nothing to go on. I glued everything down for this step.

4. Sorry for the glare here, but this is the completed shadow box. I added in a few hard candies to fill in the black space. Not ideal but it works. I also had a giant lollipop I wanted to put in there but it simply had no more room.

Thanks for checking it out! Any questions I'm happy to answer!

I love this. This was one of my favorite movies and books growing up, and I think you did an excellent job putting this together. Well done!

I love shadow boxes and you did a great job on this!! I am sure your mom has been enjoying it very much since Christmas.

Just one little word or caution, if those are real hard candies you've put in there, you might want to consider making some fakes to replace them. I see you are in Baton Rouge, I'm afraid the humidity will seep in there eventually and turn those candies to yuck. And if the humidity doesn't wreck havoc some little creepy-crawly thing may consider it an invitation to move in and feast.
