So I just got one of these kits and its pretty detailed. The trigger gaurd is all wrong, however if you remove the inner part (round) of the trigger you are left with the correct shape. I don't know if anyone else figured this out. I'd post some pics....but I can't find my camera:cry
 
Removing the bit you're talking about will get it closer to correct, but it's still not right. Google some pictures of the LeMAt revolver for the correct shape, or order a real trigger guard from Navy Arms.

Its 2 bits to be close. Behind the trigger the gaurd makes a tipped X. Remove both top and bottom of the left side of the X. Does that make sense?

This was the work I've done on mine so far:



Not only removed the inner parts of the trigger guard, but also the eyelet on the butt. This pic is from about a year ago and I still haven't gone back and finished it. :unsure
