Surprised no one else is talking about this (but I can also see why).
Saw it Tuesday night and despite the good acting and directing, boy, this movie bloated and clunky. What should be a thrilling heist film is really an extended soap opera with ham-fisted, lofty, prescient, sociopolitical ideas that just distract and take away from the real core of the story: four inexperienced woman pulling off a big heist that their husbands had planned to do...
...Which sadly turns out to be just an ordinary burglary, and there's not much story to convince why these women would work together and would need to pull off this heist in the first place. There's substantial backstory to these women, however, it doesn't make for any real motivation and it doesn't much go anywhere.
Cut out all the subplots and restructure the movie to focus on the women, and help build up their relationship together as well as strengthening their motivations. That would've made a tighter, leaner, and much more entertaining heist film. Unfortunately, that would've made this film 45 minutes to and hour long.
