Which is more accurate, AA or DS ST:TOS comm?

Neither of them are accurate. I believe both of them are based off of the MR Comm, which itself, was not very accurate.

Diamond Select is the parent company of Art Asylum... so they're both the same thing.

Just saw the new batch at Toys R Us this weekend. Nice new PLASTIC lids! The slow crap fest has begun. At least we know we'll be getting versions of this comm for the next six years! :lol

Diamond Select owns Art Asylum, so that's kinda like asking whether HMS or Rodd.com's Comm is more accurate...

Anways, due to some crazy contractual thing regarding Trek products (basically, anything developed by a license holder can be applied by other license holders, which is meant to allow reference materials or fiction created by someone to be used by others) MR's Comm was basically legally recast, resulting in the TE and AA/DST Comms. All three of them are inaccurate due to MR's various screw-ups, followed by inaccuracies by the individual companies themselves. The strange wedge shape, etc..

Wait, plastic antenna grid on the DST? Are you kidding me? The metal was the best part of the DST Comm. Are you sure they weren't chromed metal, like the EE exclusive, or perhaps a different shade of paint from the original release?

O.k., so if they are both the same, then will the sodering trick used to unlock phrases on the AA com work on the DS com?

I saw those and noticed they looked very different. Did you also notice that the antennae grill holes are tiny, compared to the earlier metal versions?

Pumpernickel

Yup, simply remove the solder above J2 and you've got yourself an extra Spock phrase!

And plastic for the new grids... ruttin' shameful is what that is.
