as the title says:
whats a REAL (and by real i meanactual vintage firing )Mauser worth? ballpark, that is.

Check gunbroker.com will give you at least an idea what they are going for.
think it really depends on the country of origin plus the year and condition.

Ditto what Mlarson007 said

off the top of my head I would say $300 and up depending on condition.

Is this for a prop or something???

Let me guess saving private ryan???

Depending on condition and whether or not the stock is included you could be looking at $1200. Last one I saw at a gun show had a large chunk missing from the corner of the detachable stock, and the vendor was still asking $1500 for it.

There was a member here a year or two ago that wanted to convert an original Mauser into a blaster, because he wanted oen that really fired.

Essentially what he wanted to do was turn a $1000 gun into a $300 prop. I and a few others tried to talk him out of it, but I'm not sure what he decided to do.

They make real firing reproductions dont they?
If the purpose is to convert it into something then, cost allowing, that'd be the better idea I would think.

Broomhandles have been steadily rising in price.

Gunshows are never a good place to buy antiques, unless you're gifted at haggling. Though the flipside is, there are more considerations to make regarding condition and matching parts when buying an antique which makes buying it from only pictures and a description in an auction more difficult.

A Deactivated Mauser C96 with inert ammo will sell here for around £600 looking like this one :thumbsup

Hope I'm not going off topic, but here is the new design of the old gun made by Kel-tec, assuming you are talking about the broomhandle mauser pistol, not the rifle

Not a wooden "broomhandle" I know, but I thought it was interesting

Watch out for the C-96 Chinese commercial versions that were dumped on the market back in the late 1990's. This is when the PLA cleaned out all their militia arsenals. Many were in pretty poor shape and the best were "refurbed" by several company's. I bought a refurb from Federal Ordinace and it's strictly a shooter.

here are a couple pics... i didnt take them, so i apologize for the quality...

thoughts?
thanks for the info so far guys.

It looks like the 1930 version. It's got the stepped transition on the barrel and the wider lines on the grips.

Even in poor condition, usually the Mausers go for $250 and up. I've seen Mausers in mint condition for $1500 at gun shows.

The nice thing about the Solo Blasters, is that the prop guys used real Mausers is less than pristine condition. :D

I know that in the UK they don't cut the receiver as we here in the US do;
so exactly what do they do to make that demilled?

You guys are lucky to have access to so many WWII demilled weapons, as I've seen on various website (insert Emoticon for envy)
