what percentage of americans will know what this costume is?

The name's Stig. The Stig...........

Don't know about percentage of Americans, but percentage of RPFers probably 99.9% :)

Sorry, but I would contest that estimate. I know movies, I know comics, but I could care less about a British racing show. I don't know cars or motorcycles but I can spew out minute details about sci fi /genre movie trivia for days.

Some say he once headbutted a whale for stealing his plankton, and that he is the direct descendant from himself...all we know is, he's called The Stig

Some say he is illegal in 17 States and that if you tune your radio to 88.4 fm you can hear his thoughts.

All I know is, he's called the Stig.

And it is a costume I wish to have someday. Even my wife knows the Stig.

Most of my coworkers though...probably not.

Some say that in his wallet, he keeps a photo of his wallet, and that on his favourite t-shirt, there's a picture of his favourite t-shirt... all we know is, he's called The Stig!

I'm an American, but the American version is a horrific joke when compared to the original BBC masterpiece. Long live Hamster, Captain Slow and the Orangutan.

I much prefer the British show, BUT go back and watch the first 3 seasons of the UK TG. In terms of first seasons, the USA show is definitely better. Whether it will end up on par is another story.

And now just to feel like I fit in:

Some say that he’s terrified of ducks, and that there’s an airport in Russia named after him. All we know is he’s called the Stig.

Also...seriously cool costume.

Saw the costume at D*C. (Assuming it was you, damn you're tall!)

on a side note, how many versions of Top Gear are there? I know of the original BBC, the American version and it's failed first attempt and an Aussie version. Any others?
