Well i was watching dark crystal the other day and it got me to thinking abouit Lyle conway, he made some great stuff for this and plenty of other films, i did a search and came up blank, i was wondering if he is involved with the dark crystal sequal or anything else.

Google shows "Results 1 - 10 of about 797,000 for Lyle conway"

Relatively recent work includes Spiderman, Deep Rising, Blade.

Lyle Conway: confirmed Doctor Octopus will be the lead villain, saying that: "Sam [Raimi] wants to use mechanical tentacles [for Doc Ock] whenever possible, he wants the actors to have actual physical tentacles to interact with. Sam wants to 'save the CGI for Spider-Man'."

"The puppeteers filmed some test scenes with someone wearing prototype tentacles. In the test footage, Doc Ock is standing behind a desk and he picks up the phone, puts on a pair of glasses, pops a cigar into his mouth, lights the cigar, and dials the phone."

"The smoke alarm on the ceiling goes off and he smashes it with one of his tentacles. Then he starts to sit down (without looking) and another tentacle reaches out behind him and grabs a chair-placing it under him in the nick of time. Bear in mind that all of this happens simultaneously. Sam was floored"[/b]

Apart from that - never heard of him. :)

I actually worked with Lyle Conway at Rob Bottin's Effects shop on "Deep Rising" years ago, he's a really talented painter that did the paintjobs on the Creatures for the movie.

I told him how his work on "The Dark Crystal" inspired me to get into the business and he was really nice, he's a very funny guy too. :D

Here's a page for Lyle that seems to be more updated than the Internet Movie Database:

I don't know why but Lyle's information has not been updated anywhere on the Net for some reason, he may be semi-retired and work on shows occasionally but I have not heard of anything recent he's done.

Ah, beat me to the punch, PS. I was gonna mention the exact same thing... :lol I "squided-out" when I saw him on the crew.

Lyle also told to me that he had an original Yoda casting that he'd never part with.

Yea, he told me he was in retirement before Deep Rising... :lol Rob personally asked him to work on it so Lyle did him a favor. I'm not surprised if he's not working much now. Probably finally decided to get out once and for all. That guy is a true FX legend.

Isn't it? I figure it's not about a specific prop... It's like talking about a director or something, right?

If not, I can always move it back. Let me know. :angel

I didn't think it had to be about a specific prop to be prop-related.

Update:
There is a photo of Lyle Conway in the current Issue of Make-up Artist Magazine Next to Audrey II.
