We've been Slimed! Restoring a Slimer Maquette from Ghostbusters

Thank you for all the kind words on our work :) We're always excited to work on bits from our favorite films and GB definitely qualifies!

Very nice! You guys really did a good deed saving that.

Here is an interview with Steve Johnson from the Stan Winston School YouTube channel. He talks a bit about the iterative (and ultimately cyclical) process he went through designing Onion Head a.k.a Slimer

NEW Monster Maker Interview: Steve Johnson - The Mad Scientist of Creature Effects-Corrected - YouTube

Saw that on the SWS blog the other day. GREAT interview. If anyone hasn't watched yet, stop what you're doing and watch it now!

Would it be okay to ask, what colors/paints were used on the Slimer maquette?

We work off a palette and mix as we go. A little of this color, a little of that color, a drop of that color, etc. Bob Ross style! We're also matching aged paint so often what you're seeing is the sum of many layers of subtle touch ups.

Man, some of the pieces you guys get to restore are just awesome. This one especially is fantastic. Great work as always.

Thankya Mike!

You don't happen to have a picture from the back of him?
What was the original maquette made from, Latex foam?

Excellent Work!

It was a polyfoam core with a shell over top.

As for your other request... I give you, the back side of Slimer!

best,
Tom
