My 10 year old decided she wanted to be Wasp this year -- her favorite hero from the "Avenger: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" cartoon (RIP, such an awesome show :().

Anyways, I had quite a time working with the stretchy fabric, but I think we ended up with a pretty cool result! She's wearing a long-sleeved shirt under the dress, since it was too cold to trick or treat in a sleeveless dress, but I ended up drafting my own pattern and making an A-line style dress for her. We weren't comfortable with the strapless idea for our 10 year old -- I may never be comfortable with that, at any age, actually!

For her head gear, I used empty mint containers, spray painted yellow, and I just pinched plain yellow drinking straws into the opening for the antennae. Then I duct taped them to a headband. It turned out pretty good! For the boots, I used the duct tape over a ballet flat method, and mocked up the distinctive tops out of craft foam. I added Velcro to the back, so she can wear them again to her school party tomorrow -- I was amazed at how well they actually turned out! Not too shabby for some duct tape and a $3 pair of dollar store shoes!

Here's the final result! She was so excited! And after two weeks at a sewing machine, making 5 costumes for my family, I am ready for a nice break! ;) Also pictured are my 8 year old Doctor Who, my 6 year old Star-Lord (with my niece who tagged along with us for trick or treat).
