Warner Bros Gremlin Display

Thought I would share some pictures of my latest acquisition - one of the increasingly rare Gremlins that used to adorn the walls of the now defunct Warner Bros stores.

I already have one of these life sized guys (dressed in top hat and tails) and when I had the opportunity to add another then I wasn't going to pass it up.

He is one of the only ones I have ever seen for sale with light up eyes! He does need a little work (as parts of him need reattaching and he needs a bit of a touch up here and there) but here are the pictures of him as he is.

Nice purchase. :thumbsup

I used to LOVE the Gremlins displays in the stores. What's the story with what happened to them when the shops closed anyway?

With the eyes lit, it reminds me of the puppet they used in the Christmas tree scene in the first film.

We never had a WB store around here, wish I'd known about them.

Would love to see pics of the other one you own in the tux.

I have this one which I got from a contractor who helped dismantle the warner brother store in Charlotte. I have no idea what he is worth, but I definitley love him. He has a large eye bolt in his back to allow him to be hung like from the ceiling. I'm not even sure of which one this is but I'm sure it was from the first movie and not the second. If anyone has information on him, I'd love it.

Looking back at the other Gremlin in the older pics... it kind looks like he's designed to be biting into a power cable.

Bear in mind, I never saw a WB store, so this may be such common knowledge that no one was commenting about it.

But there are indentations in the upper and lower jaw which would have allowed a tube to be placed in his mouth.

The light-up eyes would be an electrocution effect, I suppose.

As for the Gremlin in the new pics, it has more of a 'Rick Baker' feel to it than a 'Chris Walas', especially in the details of the paint scheme and the right wrist.

I'd be inclined to say he's in the style of Gremlins 2: The New Batch rather than the first film. Sorry to fly in the face of your claim, it's just my opinion.

Alex,

No problem at all. I'm looking for more information on him. My partner said first movie, but I do believe you might know more than we do. I appreciate the information. I had someone tell me today that these original store displays are very common and not worth much which is opposite of what I've been able to find on the internet.
