War Machine from IM2: a Collaboration Between Thorssoli and Clonesix

Hell yeah! I love a good War Machine build but they seem to be lacking. But it being a Thorssoli build more than makes up for that :D Also, I looooove that metal finish you have on the faceplate.

Im starting my own build with 3d printed parts. But im pretty new to this. How do you all keep parts like the arms and legs in place? I put foam inside my uper and lower arm parts but they dont stay in place.

We each have a few more pieces to mold and cast. Here's my biggest piece collecting dust at the moment:

Then it's just a matter of trimming, painting, and rigging.

That chest piece looks awesome! Is that urethane? Almost looks like it has a fi-glass appearance to it. Do you mind if I flick you a PM? Got a project I’m contemplating and I know it’s a huge undertaking but want to do it right & just wanted to run something by you.

It would awesome to see this project completed! Love war machine! Except the Endgame Patriot MK6 version. Not a fan of that!

That chest is the CNC carved wooden form that I still need to finish smoothing and polishing so I can mold it and cast it in fiberglass. For now it's just collecting dust while I await the moment when I have time and money to work on it again.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have questions or want to run a project by me.

That red eyes beaming through the helmet though. That looks awesome :)

Thanks. I'm really proud of the finished helmets.

I remember this thread! This has been slow going but almost done with all the parts.

I have recently finished the gauntlet molds, and except for the chest/back, we have most of the parts to start assembling this beast.

Nice work guys! Love the details! It’s looking solid as!

Update to this thread: I have just finished the mold for the arm guns. This proved to be a tricky mold to make. There is small detail and many undercuts.

My usual method of making a silicone mold would not work for me this time around. The last of the 5 gallon bucket of RTV had sat in the garage for a California summer, and was partially cured.

this meant a brush-up mold rather than pouring in one shot into a case. In addition to that, there was some doubt that my first layer of RTV would cure. I used the last of some old catalyst and I let it sit longer than usual before opening. The RTV is a little soft, but it cured.

I had to run to TAP plastics for some expanding foam but I think the result is something I am happy with.

weighing in at 308g, this is a 2lb foam-filled resin roto cast part. It picks up all the detail and there are no voids in the casting, so I can call this solid!

Amazing work guys! So, how much would this weigh if you put it together from the original material you used on the CNC?
