War Machine - Done - For now

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

cool:thumbsup. it looks like a cool machine to have. i have a plotter for decals and designing decals is fun, but i think 3d modeling would be more fun..thanks bro and keep up the good work

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

Another question. Does the 3D printer come with its own 3d software?

Yeah i've got a plotter aswell, has been brilliant for transfering pep patterns onto foam haha.

not design software, however there is free software available like Blender.

just need to familiarise yourself with the design rules required for 3d printing.
loads of tutorials around so you should be fine.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

I think Standard scale on the files i was using was 1.9??
I think i went 2.1

i'm 6'5

the 1.9 scale didnt even fit my thigh, let alone be long enough.

Oh i think your using a different scale than mine maybe because it's with foam....i used the default scale...which is like.. 1.542984 or something like that...thanks anyways...it's coming along well..

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

Yeah, i'm using Stealth's Files, i think the standard scale was someone around 5'10 or something?

bit of trial and error.

I did the Torso @ 2.2, but 2.2 looked to be too large for the legs.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

seems someones making a war machine based airsoft mask.

picked one up for $60
might look at modifying it into a full helmet to save me some time.

if not, will look good on the shelf lol.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

settled into the new house so started working on getting the legs attached properly and adding the other details to the foam parts.

still in pretty colours :p

Got this yesterday, quite impressed with it actually.
some innacuracies, but quite easy to modify.

faceplate is attached with an adhesive of some sort, so i'll try seperate and take photos.

then i'll make up a rear section for it and tidy up around the eyes a little.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

You know, I always like these foam builds in their unpainted colors!

Build on!

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

I have been thinking about getting a 3D printer for my self for a while. I will defiantly keep an eye on this build and how the 3D printing goes.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

chopped the faceplate off, wasnt too hard :D

and some minigun parts

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

started doing the rear of the helmet.
foam it out, then go with fibreglass and bondo to match it up to the back

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

coming along great, I feel your pain on having to wait on moving to finish a build. Or in my case start lol.

Where did you find the mask btw? A Google search turned up a few ones that looked like crap compared to the one you scored.

Re: War Machine - Keep me motivated build.

How you attached your legs together?

I've got a single clip at the top/front of the thigh, ends up being slightly hidden by the cod piece.

then 1 clip on each side of the knee.
bit of trial and error getting the length right but seems to work ok now.
