War Documents: Historical and Movie

I was looking for a place to post this but couldn't find anything. I looked under both Pearl Harbor, thinking I would find things from the movie, and under World War II. Nothing turned up.

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread devoted to War Time documents from history aswell as movies.

I did this the other day for Pearl Harbor.

It will be interesting to see what else turns up. I have been wanting to do the Zimmerman Telegram for some time. Also would want to work on some Enigma Code messages and code books.

This is a great idea.

I've always been interested in wartime documents and paperwork. There are several sites run by re-enactors that have both military and civilian wartime documents. I'm sure I've got a few tucked away somewhere that I can post.

Good call, I was only watching a tv documentary on the wartime deception plan 'Operation Mincemeat' the other day and thought it would be cool to have some of the pocket lint that was palced on the body used. Included was the ficticious Naval ID for William Martin and some of his letters and photos etc.

Here's something I saw online: a Pearl Harbor telegram, held by the Smithsonian, I think. Also attached is my replica.

Check out Yahoo Groups, they have several groups who recreate WWII documents/paperwork.

The ones I follow are:doc hoovie, propreplicas, repro paperwork, WW2 repro depot, WWII free paperwork, and WWII paperwork.

Also, just do some Google searches for WWII Replica Paperwork, it should bring up quite a few sites. You can also check the official military sites (Army, Navy, Marines, etc) many have documents that you can download as well as history sections.

Sith Sheriff Brody - Looks great. I saw that one also. I am not sure the entire message is shown however.

Thanks for the links Bear.

Here are three more documents concerning Pearl Harbor:

These were found on http://www.museumofworldwarii.com/.
It's a coincidence I saw this thread whilst browsing the website!

If anyone needs something specific, I specialize in WWII (as journalist and privately as a collector) so I have alot of original examples of my own.

How about this one from the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

This is the message Lt. Col. George Custer gave to one of his troopers right before the battle began. It reads. Benteen. Come on. Big village. Be quick. Bring packs.

P.S. Bring pack.
