I can't believe my last post had astericks inserted whenever I wrote the name of the Japanese designer of Robby. I know there must be language filters to keep things civil, but really?

Well, I certainly hope it is not carcinogenic! :eek

It probably isn't too safe to inhale the fumes the emit from the plastic when it's heated for vaccuforming, though.

Went down and saw him yesterday. Robby looks great! Funny, I was in a hobby shop in Studio City a month ago (Kit Kraft). I told the clerk I was trying to figure out how to paint my Forbidden Planet C-57D saucer hobby kit (from Polar Lights) Suddenly, a man steps out from behind a bin and tells me he couldn't help but overhear me say I was working on the C-57D kit. He says he owns the original C-57D and that he owns the real Robby too. Gave me advice on how to paint it. Just awesome! THAT'S why I like living in Southern California.

BTW, the video of the C-57D (posted above) has some great shots of the saucer's underbelly. Great reference for kit builders. I think the display ends August 7th. Get down there while you can, it's free!

I also went down and saw the display the weekend after the opening program. I think Fred Barton did the restoration on the Malone robot that was walking in the program. When I emailed Peter and asked about the robot walking at any other times at the exhibit he said they blew the whole wad on the show presentation.

Does anyone know who gets into the robot? Fred denies it's himself. Then I read somewhere recently that Fred has a brother????
