Walmart/ASDA exclusive lifesize Ravager Groot repaint

Saw this little guy in my local ASDA store here in the UK (I later found out he's a Walmart exclusive over in the US - Walmart owns ASDA in the UK) and decided I'd have to get him for a repaint as he's got some really nice details that are let down by a horrible plastic finish and sloppy factory paintjob and incorrect colours.

I based the colours on screencaps from online, and used the Hot Toys Ravager costume online pictures for reference (though their colours do not match the colours seen onscreen in a few places too).

A complete head to toe repaint, using various acrylics, enamels, washes and drybrushing.

i had forgotten about this thread until , i saw this little guy today, in ASDA, of course he's a must buy, i couldn't resist, the detail is great for the price, ofcourse he needs a repaint. any tips? etc, im fantastic at Modelmaking & diecasts, but in all these years , ive not tackled before.
HES SO COOL!

(no idea why the photo is upside down...it didnt take it upside down lol)

I love this! You've done a great job on the repaint, it looks just like in the movie.

Any ideas on how much the little guy cost? I think a trip to Asda may be in the books. ;)
 
I repainted mine as well (albeit not to as good a standard as you) and it radically improved the look. I used wifeys clear nail polish to make his eyes super shiny.
 
I used to do this sort of thing on a commission basis years ago for people and I gotta hand it to you, you've got skills. He looks amazing! Almost as if it's a picture of an onset prop...

AMAZING transformation.

Would you be able to list the paint colours and brands you used to turn the cheap looking Groot into the more real accurate Groot, please.

I think I'll be going to Asda this weekend now!

i will probs repaint after i finally get through all my other projects, but i did purchase another. as a spare.
