Vinyl Terminator endo skulls - any good?

I've spotted a few different vinyl 1:1 endo skulls on the 'bay, mostly from the far east.

As an absolute newbie to Terminator propdom, can anyone tell me how accurate they are? Are they recasts? They are fairly inexpensive kits.

So in terms of accuracy, ethics and value for money are they worth getting, or not?

I had one years ago from one of the eBay sellers, the details were all there, but being vinyl recasts they tend to have warping. Would take alot of heat and manipulating to get them right.

If it comes down to the point that it's one of these or nothing at all, and you are into modelling and reworking. Why not give it a shot... but if you have the means to find a resin kit or better, I'd say do that for sure.

I never did finish mine because I didn't have the patience to rework the warping issues.

I had one of those years ago, I newer even got it assembled since it was to warped.
Also, the size is just not right.

I'm fairly certain they're from the Icons skull. The details and proportions seem the same. Though there's been a lot of shrinkage. It's certainly not from the GreyZone skull or Sideshow.

I've contemplated getting one, but I've never had good luck with reshaping vinyl. No matter how many times I heat it and flash it under cold water, it eventually goes back to it's warped shape.

I'm pretty sure most of the re-cast vinyl skulls were cast of the priginal licenses M-1 vinyl endo skull.

The M-1 is about 8/10 or 9/10 scale, so if a recast has shrunk more, do the math...

Yeah, if you're going to get one of the recast kits, just make sure it's the multi-piece kit that you get and not the head that's all cast as one piece - the chin is way off on that one: far too narrow and pointed.

Wowww....thanks for the pics PH, that M1 skull is really stunning :eek

I'm not a Terminator pro...that M1 is a screen-used model ?

Thanks
FRED

it was my understanding that the M-1 kits were from a screen used mold. They came endorsed by Stan Winston. As far as I know, on the actual M-1 kit the face and head are one piece but when it was recast they cut the face off it and molded 2 parts. Head over to the endobuilders site. there's plenty of info over there
