Vader undersuit repair advice

no more than 3 days have passed since my costume has been "complete", and lo and behold, i've already gone and goofed it up :cry

my problem is with the leather undersuit. it has torn under the arm, where the vertical rectangles meet the underarm. my question is, is this something i should take to a tailor for repair, or should i try my luck with one of those leather upholstery repair kits? i don't have any experience with leather myself, and this definately is not something i can afford to mess up. i'm not sure exactly what can be done here, as the stitching did not break, but the actual material ripped. any advice would be deeply appreciated.

egads sorry to see that happen to your gorgeous Vader

I would take it to someone like a tailor who can repair it properly so it won't tear further...finding one with leather experience will be more of a challenge....best of luck. Those patches won't hold over the long term...

thanks for the heads up SithLord... that's what I was afraid of with those patches. I'll get it to a local tailor tomorrow.

The way I look at situations like this is.... "when in doubt, go to someone else"

It's not worth screwing everything up just to save a few bucks. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
