Hi, I bought the sabre about 4 months ago never checked it was unopened in box so thought would be ok. Problem is when you turn it on light doesn't extend to the top 4 inches or so. Is this common? Is it repairable? Any one have this problem and sorted it themselves would love to know thanks in advance.

The LEDs are wired in segments to give the "extension/retraction" effect. It looks like your last rung/segment has a broken connection or the first LED in that segment has burned out. Can it be fixed? Short answer is yes it can. But, it's not going to be easy. The whole saber needs to be taken apart just to get the blade out. Or, is this a Vader with removable blade? If it's a removable blade version it's going to be easier to fix.

I bought the 2010 removeable blade version, put it all together maybe three four times before packing it away until last year when i pulled it back out to display at least the hilt for now, turned on the blade and it had leds out all over the place, this from being packed in it`s original box in the foam from the manufacturer.

a quick tap on the ground sorted it out, (Not suggested)

Thanks guys, I Flicked it on again after a little while it worked properly. Then After turning it off and on again top 4" didn't again. I think i will try the "tap and shake" method, may be the key to it as its not a removable blade.
Thanks again

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the Fixed blade of the Vader Force FX Hasbro Signature series sabre. Ive got to try and fix it, it looks out of place in the display I'm building and dont really want to but another one. Thanks in advance

There are instructions on the TCSS forums for taking that saber apart to replace it with a conversion kit that uses just a single LED in the hilt to light up the blade...

ANH version:
07-08 MR and HFX Vader ANH - Disassembly only, kits available

TESB Version:
05 MR Vader - Done & kits available

However those same instructions can be used to see how to remove the blade as well as the electronics inside of it. I've done the conversion myself on the ANH version. It can be a pain but it's doable. You may find that one of the top thumb screws on the outside of the saber, the dull metal looking one, may be glued in tightly and may get a bit chewed up trying to get it to break free. Also there are pins in the blade itself, holding the electronics in, that will have to be removed using a small punch or nail. I hope that helps.
