Vader Belt Details - Lines on Belt

Curious as to the lines that run the length of the leather Vader belt, at the top and bottom. Are those sewn or are they actually cut into the belt? I have seen them on ANH and ESB, but not sure if they were on the ROTJ belts. Have not found any shots that are detailed enough for me to tell.
Thx!

Those lines are not sewn, they are grooves in the belt. However, they are not cut into the leather, they are a groove made simply by pressing the tool into the leather and running it along.
I used an inexpensive adjustable creaser that I got from Tandy leather to make mine.
I will dig up the part number for you.

you could also wet the leather, because leather will take on shapes more easily when wet and then just press something the right thickness into the belt and let the belt dry.. Don't forget to use a good Leather conditioner to soften the leather back up after the belt is dry or else the belt will tend to start cracking over a short period of time..

Thx Doug, had not even thought of that. How long would I need to soak the leather do you think - is it like an hour or more like overnight?
