V for Vendetta Doublet finished

So finally after pecking away at this puppy during my sparse amounts of free time it's finished. My accurate as possible V doublet. I patterned this from studying various doublet patterns, pouring over the promo pics and screenshots and the handy interview with the costume designer that really helped me to pick out certain elements that I might not have noticed otherwise. Hopefully you can see the diamond pattern on the close-up. Lucked up on that find, it is 100% silk as well. Fully lined and padded.

The rest of the costume is not pictured. Consider this a teaser of sorts. The Cape is nearly hemmed, Hat needs resteamed, I need a better mask, and belt is tomorrow's project, but This bad boy will be ready for Dragon Con daggers or no.

Here's a look. I'm sure it looks alot better without blue jeans and my T-shirt poking out of the front vent. Whadaya think?

Impressive, nice find on the fabric and good shape.
My only peccodillo is pressing down the fabric at the front lower edges :)
Looking forward to seeing the rest of it put together.

:thumbsup

yes, that looks incredible.

So you used a custom made pattern? or was this a found pattern or a combo of patterns? PRAY TELL...

Wow really good looking. You gonna be making anymore of these for your fellow RPF/V fans?

Ah yes.. I need to actually take it into work where we have the uber-industrial gravity feed irons and give it a good pressing all around. I tried my ass off to make the zipper hidden, but I guess that's why Hugo was stitched into his.

Yep, custom made by yours truly. I studied both the costume and real doublet patterns and such and kind of meshed everything I found together. It didn't hurt that I found a doublet in storage at the shop that had the v-neck. I'm a professional cutter/draper (combo dressmaker/tailor) so it helps that I've been trained to do this sort of thing. Bad pressing habits not withstanding.

Not in the extremely near future. I may make patterns available tho. We'll see. They aren't by any means a simple build and the fabric may be kinda hard to find again. The store I bought it from is in Atlanta and they had about 5 yards left and I bought the 2.5 I needed for this. The bitch of it is that there isn't that 2.5 left because (and you'd think they'd be more tious with $40.00 a yd fabric) the woman who cut messed up the first time and had to cut a whole new piece.

Nice that you have access to that equipment and the patterns.
I wasn't meaning to pick on you, I'm bad for pressing sometimes too so I noticed it :p
*winces at the price and the loss of that potential 2.5 yards*

No offense taken. I'm notoriously bad at remembering to press my work when finished. Usually I just drape it and hand it off to a stitcher to build so I don't have to worry about it.
