Unusual falcon build

OK so I think this is significantly different to most peoples to make it worthwhile noting on here. Plus I am probably going to want some help.

5-6 years ago I bought an awful lot of the Star Wars Miniatures from WOTC. These figures are generally considered to be 1/49 scale. So I would like to make my girls a playset falcon, that is to scale, and has all the features you might expect for those figures. So i Currently have two falcons 1) a legacy falcon and 2) an original trilogy falcon. So the legacy falcon is the ideal model to make a 1/48 scale for my kids to play with, but I really love it as a playset for the 3.5in figures.

Am I better keeping the legacy falcon as is, I am not sure whether its actually worth anything, it seems a shame to break it up (despite the fact I got it cheap)?

Should I sell the OT falcon? The kids have never played with it and it is in good condition (boxed, etc, it is missing the odd part that I could replace from ebay cheaply). I could then use the money from this to buy another kit/model? Maybe the Hasbro shell from 2014?

My intention is to build the internals using laser cut/etched mdf and 3d printed parts. What would be the most sensible method for building? I would want to embed lights, sounds, etc.

yes this is the one i had in mind as it is pretty much an empty shell i think? Is anyone using this to do a full inner build too?

I have one of these too, but I'm still collecting parts for upgrading it. I'm not aware of anyone doing a full interior for it. I have seen a couple interior parts such as the cockpit and some of the cockpit tube, the ramp and part of the hall leading to the ramp and the gun wells. Most of this you can find on shapeways. I think the ramp kit I saw is from Randy Cooper's website.

If you have the money shapeways has a lot of stuff, and the de ago stuff would be close enough to be indistinguishable. Going to be expensive though!
