Hey everyone,
Just seen tonight that UC are re-releasing the Helm of Sauron edition size 1500. I own one from the original release and was wondering if there is a difference between them. There doesn't seem to be from the picture on there site. Any one got any info on this?

Hmm. . . interesting news. I missed getting one of these a few years ago.
Not sure about the helmet, but the base is certainly different.

Yeah the base is different but other than that I can't tell if there's any difference. Superjedi I recommend that you get one :)

Oh, I recommend I get one too! Not sure if the wife will agree with me or not. :p

I can't remember what these originally sold for. Anyone know if the price
for this new run is around the same? Is the price higher this time around?

I think the original ones were something like 625$ retail.

No idea on the new ones though.

I'm kind of torn when stuff like this happens. On one hand I like that I can get one if I missed the original. But when you stamp an edition size on something I feel like you are honor bound to not produce it or anything 98% identical to it again. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from when NECA released portal guns in limited edition, then again, and again, and then and open edition, and then a mini version. People who shelled out for the originals because they thought there would never be another got hosed. In this case, probably no harm done, because I don't think the original helm is selling for much over retail, but still questionable in my mind.

The old ones were made out of fibreglass, these are are made out of resin.

I am interested too, in the quality of the new version of this helm.

I was told that the old version had actual metal flake mixed into it to make it cold to the touch. Is that true?

If it is true, does the new version have metal flake mixed in as well?

Apparently "limited edition" means nothing these days. Good thing I don't collect based on that - but if I did, I'd be pissed. Resin instead of fiberglass means a lot more will get broken during shipping.
