Two prop packages seized - Canada & Australia

Yeah, Kal is right.

Over here, if anything looks like a gun, its either confiscated or straight to the Police Station. I realised this when I came back in '95 and had to surrender these:

1) Robocop Airgun
2) SA80 airsoft rifle
3) Dirty Harry Magnum (with "real" Bullets)
4) 1911 Blowback pistol
5) Star Trek VI Assault Phaser
6) Sig Sauer 226 airsoft
7) Klingon Knife
8) Baretta M93
9) Some "educational" magazines :angel

And sometimes, its hard to convince them otherwise when they're not in the mood nor want to know what they actual prop it. For example, my Roddenberry Mark X "Endgame" Tricorder which won in eBay and they did not know what it was. Therefore I got slapped under Model Toys and Electronics because of the free electronics. And I had to pay about 10%.

Woe betide me if I got in another Assault Phaser. To us, its the Assault Phaser. to them, its a gun and I am a criminal. Sheesh :confused

Well there has to be some kind of logical criteria used. As in, it has to look like a real current actual firearm. There is a huge difference between a REAL firearms and sci fi resin weaps. Copies of real firearms I agree, remove em.

On the other hand, it is amazing how many REAL firearms are in the US. Aaaah I see. Save the world as we know it from sci fi props. Real bullet firing weaps? We don` neeeed to steeeeking worry bout reeeeeeel weeepons that fire reeeeeel bulleeeets!!!!!!

Over the counter taser guns? Those can pass thru Customs easy too. It boggles the mind dudes.

ok guys for those in australia in western australia YES YOU CAN GET REPLICAS IN , first up you need to apply for a b709a form on your police websight its basically a permission form that states what it is, why your getting it and type after youve submitted it with the weblinks and pictures you userally get a letter in 2 weeks via post with the permission form you scan it and send it to the person your buying props from they then send your package with the copy of the permission form. it then userally goes to customs they ring you ,you go down and bring orriginal form they then give it to you. a heads up forwarding venting blank guns arnt allowed dont even try with blank guns its a lot of who ha and had to bring a lawyer into the whole mess secound metal replicas these defantly go to freo they posture and wave finger at you provide orriginal form they hand over it with a annoyed look on there face 3rd most resin kits like my pulse rifle just come straight to your house.so read up peeps and hope to provide up dates and picks also does any one know company does resin thompson?

For those members who build and ship prop/toy weapons, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for doing so, however, from some of the posts I've read on here, some are advocating plainly to incorrectly state the contents of the packages they are sending out. This is ill advisable, because mislabelling an item shipped through the mail can either get you blacklisted, or investigated by Interpol if they feel it is warranted. In almost any country, falsifying a document is considered fraud.
I think it is just best to label it as a toy, which it actually is. (Cosplay, prop can be written beside it).
We members in these countries with these laws, unfortuately have to understand and bear the responsibility of never receiving a prop. Tough as it might be to ocassionally get something seized, I am sure we all do not wish other members not to receive copies of your work because you are on some sort of blacklist. One way to avoid being investigated is to just quote the unit value itself, based on resin cost and not include the cost of RTV, time, and the many many of hours that went into the project. The cost, will therefore be lower and you may avoid being inspected for that reason. Also, having it in pieces helps too, which also helps to say that it is a toy. Fully built and painted props will probably get seized.
