OK-

So I'm going to be fully restoring a TurboMan Jet Pack for fellow member...you guessed it - TurboMan, and I decided to document the whole thing to show off some skills I have and to put my name out there for people who may need this type of service in the future.

So here it begins -

The way I received her in the mail...

Re: TurboMan Jet Pack Restoration WIP *PIC HEAVY*

There's always been a real lack of TurboMan stuff on here. The suit was a really nice piece of work.

Looking forward to your progress, I never thought the pack was that shiny!

Likewise, thanks for posting this and I very much look forward to seeing your progress:thumbsup

So, is this vacu-formed, or slush cast resin, as first speculated?

When this was first posted, that was in doubt.

As soon as I saw it I said that it had to be Vacuumed. As soon as I started cutting I found out that the main body of it is definitely acrylic (smells exactly like a nail salon and it's crystal clear. No wonder it broke.

The attachments however are made from multiple materials. Some pieces are resin, some ABS, and some vacuumed acrylic.

Ok - so here's an update...

While I was sleeping last night, someone had the audacity to cover my entire area in 2' of snow. So I decided that I would just stay at home in bed with my girlfriend instead of going to my shop and run the rest of my errands.

Not because I'm lazy...but because we went on vacation with her car and it's the only one we have available as my car is at my shop - in pieces. Her car is a Honda Accord, with semi-bald tires. Needless to say - it's not that I don't want to go, I CAN'T.

This thing is wicked brittle 14 years after being made.

First of all -

**HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, I LOOK LIKE A MONKEY...**

Anyways,

OK - so it's been a while since I've posted anything on this. That's because my memory card reader crapped out a couple weeks ago and I haven't been able to pick up a new one. But, never fear I am still taking pictures and will have them posted in the next few days. I did manage to get 2 pictures on to my computer before the reader stopped working so I figured I'd post them so everyone (Todd) knows that I have worked on it and I wasn't BSing him.

The project is a bit further along than in the pictures. I already have it reinforced with fiberglass. The Pictures are the "finished puzzle" stage.

I decided to do a little B&A -

(not really of course)
