I've wanted to make a really good TRON costume for years. I want to light it so it looks close to the movie the the regular eye but all I've seen so far is EL wire that needs some darkness to look good. Is there anything brighter out there or any good ideas to use for the lighting system so that it can be seen in regular light.... or that you can at least tell its lit.

Thanks

I'm just gonna give you a heads up on why no one has responded.

Be MUCH more specific in your topic title...since invariably in any Tron costuming thread some inconsiderate, evil bastidge will post a picture of "Tron Guy". Most are avoiding your thread for fear of Tron guy.

Please, a tron post wouldnt be a tron post without the tron guy.... If you look at the extreme closeup pic and watch it for a minute you can actually focus in like those puzzle pictures :lol:lol:lol

I heard that the TRON GUY sold his butt to pay for the outfit! For a overweight guy...this guy has no a$$!!! WTF?

Actually I think posting the Tron Guy photo is a public service and warning to any would-be costumers about what can happen if you shouldn't be wearing a skin-tight leotard with lights on it.

You know, Tron Guy's costume would have been much cooler had he gone with the Flynn look.

The little over the shoulder clothing would have covered him up a bit and really reduced the "disgusting" factor of spandex on a guy the shape of a single-celled organism.

Yup and the " I let it all go" Spider man at last Dragon Con, along with the overweight budget Spartans with felt marker drawn on abbs ! :eek :confused:sick:thumbsdown

At least all those guys knew they were haming it up, this poor gent.....wellll ?? :unsure

Back to the topic at hand...no, there really isn't a better way to do it tha EL wire. There are EL sheets, but they're very expensive and would be an incredible mess to do to complete the circuit to get them all to work. I looked into doing it with one of my discs years ago, but decided it just wasn't really that feasible. I made both Tron and Flynn helmets, but used stickers that I created with photoshop.

Just wondering.. Why couldnt just just do some parts in EL wire and then the rest in reflective material? If your at a con and people take a pic with a flash it will look the same. Just a thought.

Years ago, a guy made a quite impressive Tron Costume.

He stiched clear tubing on all the glowing parts and then filled them with blue Cyulme liquid.

Quite impressive.

Tron Guy made an insurance billboard in Seattle warning "Don't let this happen to you". :lol

Poor guy probably put his heart and soul (plus a few cheesburgers) into that costume.
