Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon - Movie Discussion

Got back at 3am this morning and was too tired to type this out. So here is the quick and dirity:

This was an exhausting 2 and a half hours. The film felt like a bunch of scenes thrown together with little thought being put into pacing and making it into a single cohesive whole . Its as if each act of the film was its own movie. act 1: coming of age story abt a young striking out on his own, 2: conspriacy theory/thriller, 3: OH NOES, ALIENS BE HERE AND BE WIPIN OUT HUMANS WITH BEAM GUNS + bad arse robot destruction.

It was better that ROTF...but not by much. fewer sexual innuendos and "ghetto talkin" twins. Optimus Prime becomes even more of a badass. except for one scene in which he takes on a crane...not a transforming crane...just a crane....and looses. Megatron gets called a biatch. Oh yeah, robots bleed!
There was little to no emotional investment in any of the characters. Though it should be noted that this film makes several feeble attempts at pathos, which come off as cheesy and contrived. Especially the alien invasion scenes. Its as if this film took cues from the 2005 War of the Worlds with humans being shot by beam weapons and disintegrating.

Overall, it was ok. But lets face it. going into a transformers film, I really wasn't expecting much in the way of story telling. but the visual effects were friggin amazing

The good....

Outstanding 3D!!! Really, outstanding. The bad...

Everything else. Granted I knew what I was getting myself into. Not much to say about it really. So if your not looking for anything except some killer
3D, a boring first half of a movie, and an awesome explosion hell-fest of an second half with an abrupt ending type of movie, and have absolutley nothing else to do...this is a movie for you:thumbsup

Saw it, hated it... Bay owes me a few hours of my life back!

Without getting into it to much, Megatron just destroys the film for me. Just another glaring proof that hollywood writers DID NOT understand the basic characters.

Almost put in the first three episodes of G1 to remeove this rubbish from my mind, but just way to tired and disappointed.

:lol Yeah.. Gotta agree with that.

******Possible spoiler alert *****

I'll probably get flack for this, but pleeeeeease don't get me wrong here. I Love Trek., Spock and all things Nimoy, but, I got the 1st nod of the hat that was a nice little cue of " oh this is the episode where Spock goes apes&*t" as it's perfect foreshadowing for the character he was playing. Got it, thanks. Then we get the always and shall be "your friend"...And finally, "the needs of many..." I felt like I was being slammed over the head with self gloating importance as if yes.. Clearly, we've forgotten once again, that yeah.. you're flippin' Spock already! :( Sadly, I felt pretty annoyed by the end of the movie with something I should have thought was more 'fun' than anything and don't really know why, maybe it's just me, or that it was just distracting.

I really did enjoy the film and it was better than TF2 by far. If you're just wanting a good popcorn flick, I promise you won't be let down. :)

Ps-BUZZ was awesome!

Well, they already got me for my $12.50 and late night sleep.

The 3D was great, but the viewers aren't looking for a 3D thrill over quality writing. This film seemed like a remixed run of the last movie, which was a remixed run of the first. Same basic elements, just in different concentrations: Bad guys looking for a leading bad guy who, then, does some loud, large scale damage and eventually stopped by Optimus with a little humor and sex appeal sparsely seasoned in. Only the fans will be able to love this movie, since these are the exact things they want to see. For the rest, it'll be monotonous, though still enjoyable. Just a question of whether it's worth the $10+ ticket. I saw the last one for the first time at the $2 theater. Very decent sound and picture quality for the money.

Given the ending, it really seems like this is the last film. As such, the new girl really seems arbitrarily out of place when it would've made more sense that Megan's character be Sam's one and only from their prior track record. Did she cross the line with something she did or said, or did she simply not want anything more to do with robot CGI?

My GF and I just got back from seeing the movie. We both enjoyed it :)

I went in to it not expecting the best film of all time by any degree and I had fun with it. The second film I felt like the jokes and all got down right horrible at some points. It seems like they realized that and cleaned it up to some degree for this one. I didn't miss the twing gang bangers by any means!

The last part of the movie takes place in Chicago and since I live in Chicago...well, maybe I enjoyed it more than others would since it's really cool to see the buildings I see all the time having my favorite robots in disguise around them.

Overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. Not the best movie but far from the worst. I enjoyed it and honestly wouldn't mind seeing it again.

And my favorite line...."You messed with the wrong Wang today!" :lol Sorry you gotta see it to get it....don't wanna ruin anything for anyone

Wang was great!

I actually thought the added comedians were not a great element of the film. Too much comedy for what could have been a better film.

Hello fellow transformers fans, I loved the movie and loved the look of Megatron. Made a costume of him, but I do a pretty good impression of Nimoy as Sentinel Prime, I should make and post a video of it.
