View attachment 25708I'm sure the PADD has been done to death, but here's my stab at it while my TNG Hypospray is on hold while I sort out the "neck" issue.

I the meantime I was eager to start something else so I decided a TNG PADD will do (with the supplies I have on hand)

Here's what I did tonight.

Looking good. I always likes he compactness of the TNG PADDs.

Keep up the good work.

Hi JMar,

if you want patterns for your PADDs just drop me a line.

I didn't realize just how compact the TNG PADD'S were until I cut this one out.

For this project I layered 1 mm sheets of styrene. Three for the bottom, two for the middle and three for the top. I only made the button indents 2 sheets deep on the top so I can add graphics to the bottom layer.

Diethrich thank you so much for your offer. Once I get caught up and can afford new material I will definitely take you up on your offer for patterns.

Detailing still needs to be done but it's essentially finished.

Very quick build.

Nice touch with the additional piece of ribbed styrene on the ODN Scanner. I love it when people add their own little customizations to their builds! :)

My first PADD, mostly finished. There's some detail work left to do but it's very minor.

I used clear label paper to do the brown graphics. I altered the size of the PADD diagram (created by another RPF members who's name I can't recall) in photoshop to get the desired results.

All that's left is the I.D tag for the back and some vinyl pin stripe to make the green "buttons"

Hi JMar,

the right PADD graphic looks like one of my files......

That looks awesome,

How did you make that again, styrene?

I am looking for a first build project and this looks doable, any advice?

Dietrich, I would love the patterns also, btw is there a way to view your site in English or did I just miss the button on the home page?

Adrian

There's a very good chance it's a Dietrich graphic. I downloaded a bunch of graphics from various sources when I was a lurker and didn't have any plans to build anything, however in the process I didn't keep track of my sources.

AS for the build I've been layering 1mm styrene to get the desired results.

I currently get packages of Evergreen Scale Models 9040 plain 1mm thick sheets (12" x 6", 2 sheets to a package). The package is about $4.00 here in Ottawa (Hobby House and/or Discount Hobbies).

The TNG PADD is based on measurements from an old Star Trek Magazine and the voyager PADD was from a template I found on here...though I can't recall the exact post.

Apologies to Dietrich for using without permission and I hope this reply assists in a first build.

@JMar

So I am grabbing the styrene that you suggested...

so the bottom is painted silver, the middle black and the top pieces are the only ones with the indents cut in and painted silver.

One last silly question as I am such a noob here...what am I using for glue...I know different glues have diferrent effects on different products...a simple white glue I assume should be fine.

Edit: Local store didn't have the sheets, gonna have to check the one other place that may have them.

A few drops of super glue here and there should do the job. Just be careful of the fast dry time and any other warnings and safety tips are on the packaging.
