The problem being this isn't the same characters if Carl didn't kill Shane, if Dale is dead, if Darryl is there (just about the only change I think improves things), if Lori and Andrea are dumber than the walkers. It's not "Walking Dead" it's 'Some show with zombies and character unrecognizable from the comic' AMC is really just using the name "Walking Dead" and making their own show. Almost none of this is from the comic, so why bother using the name if they wanted to stray that far from the comic?

I remember the same exact complaints about the changes Ron D Moore made to Battlestar Galactica.

"this character is different! I don't like different!" <-- sums it up

Aaaaaand... get over it. Enjoy it for what it is: a different medium.
By now at this point in life as a person who appreciates literature, art, film, television, and visual media, you should have figured out that the book is never the same as the movie. The TV show is never the same as the comic book. The movie is never the same as the comic book. Etc, etc, etc.

And new BSG ended up a steaming pile of **** at the end.

Everything I've heard in complaints about the WD TV show would have never happened if they stuck better to the intelligence and thoroughness of the writing of the comics, as well as comic character traits and actions. Everything BAD about the TV show has been items that the writers of the show changed from the comics. Everything that people who DIDN'T read the comics and didn't like about the show isn't in the comics. They have had an opportunity to make a slam dunk with the writing from the comics translated into the TV show and they keep failing every time they stray from the comics.

Saw this on Io9 and thought you guys might find it interesting:

The Walking Dead
Showrunner Glen Mazzara discusses what to expect from this Sunday's second season finale:

We're proud of this finale, we've been building to it all season, and we cant wait for you to see it … There's more bloodshed coming. They thought they were safe on this farm, they were wrong … We're on a killing spree here … There are answers about the nature of the virus in the finale … I will guarantee people will watch this finale and want to know what comes next. People will have a lot of questions, but in a good way.

He also promises that the third season will be much faster paced overall than season two:

I am very interested in keeping the pace up. I'm proud of the [early] episodes in season 2. I'm surprised at some of the feedback. That being said, it was always my intention to ramp up the pace. I do think the [recent] episodes have been better crafted at having a beginning, middle, and a punch at the end. I think we've cracked it. We still will have slower episodes … this is a story about characters we care about. But I do think the pacing in season 3 will feel like a freight train … [Also] there will be more webisodes coming before season 3.

Finally, he gave these general thoughts on the show's long-term future, which seems to imply the show is intended to run at least five or six years:

I've talked about it with Robert [Kirkman]. I do have a feeling where this show ends.We know pretty much the entire arc of season 3. We have ideas for season 4. Then skipping ahead to the end of the series, I have very storng ideas.

Glen Mazzara "about Shane becoming zombie in Better Angels, much faster than Amy, and not getting bit: "We worked hard to make sure that revelation landed. We knew what we were doing there. We knew it would land a punch. We’ve never had a main character become a zombie to this extent. Those [rapid flashes of zombie mayhem] represent the storm in Shane’s brain to some extent … Amy was a weaker character. Shane is in a murderous rage … he’s going to reanimate quicker. There’s just more life in that zombie, believe it or not. We do have internal rules for that."

It's plausable that Shane could have been dead for a couple of hours before Carl showed up....

I figure Carl either saw the showdown or heard Shane's gun go off, and came to investigate, so it probably didn't take too long.

Every human and former human in a mile radius should have heard it. But the adults in the farmhouse would have the sense to realize that one gunshot would probably be the sound of a problem getting solved. Multiple shots would be a bad sound to hear.

Carl probably went out the window and climbed down to the ground without anyone seeing.

its possible, but what happened to the look outs?? There is usually always someone keeping watch, yet nobody investigates the gunshot, nor see's Carl walking across the field?

as i stated before, some stuff just doesnt make sense in that show
with the gun training, the random "not keeping watch", and all the other random stuff, im suprised there are still so many people alive

Everyone knew that the group had gone out to find Randall. If I had heard the one shot, I would of figured they had found and killed Randall. The second shot from Carl however...I would of gotten a little worried.

I agree with Carl sneaking out. I mean he was sitting in the window sill with the
Bino's. He probably saw Shane and Rick walking in the field and figured they were done searching. Maybe he went to go see if they found anything.
