The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Post-release)

This looks cool from the trailer, I'm trying to figure out what to see on Christmas, so far this is topping the list.

Man not even Danny Kaye movies are safe from remakes, they could have at least tried to get someone funny to be in it.

Not a particular Ben Stiller fan, but it looks good enough to warrant further interest.

Same here but I think that this actually looks pretty good and might be one of his better roles.

As for this being a remake, who cares as long as it's a decent movie what should it matter? I think that the original is old enough that a remake isn't too bad of a thing, it's not a like of today's movie going audience know who Danny Kaye is much less have any memories of having seen the original not when the vast majority of movie goers weren't even born or just babies at best when the original came out.

I think I saw the original in school, but I can't remember. I know we read the story in several English classes. I just hate Ben Stiller so I don't know if I want to see it or not!

This doesn't look as slap-stickish as the Danny Kaye version, and the story has some darker elements IIRC. I can't think of a "serious" role I've see Ben Stiller do, so I'm curious to see how he does with this. The music in the trailer is great. :)

Just saw it, it was GREAT. solid 8/10. Especially since i can relate to the photo-safari and the deep film connection this movie have.

...also day dream... but who hasn't :lol

I recommend it, absolutely.

Saw it yesterday. Thought it was a very enjoyable film and would definitely recommend it. I think I made the right choice in seeing Walter Mitty over 47 Ronin. The reports on that one is nothing short of a train wreck!

Just got back from watching it. Enjoyable. Great performances. But what got me was the look. Every scene looked amazing. Some scenes looked incredible.

Well worth seeing on the big screen, beautifully shot and acted. This will be on my Blu-ray shelf! :cool:thumbsup

I actually saw both of them on the same day, and this is undoubtedly the better of the two. 47 Ronin was okay... I didn't hate it, anyway. I think TCM was playing the original Danny Kaye version, and I was tempted to watch it, but I had other stuff to do.

I don't know how it compares to the original, but I think it stands on it's own. The problem many filmmakers run into is their attempt to update the material, and fail miserably. This has a very timely story, but doesn't ended up feeling forced onto the theme of the film. I liked it.
