The Progression of Clone Commander Bly

When I decided I wanted a CC Bly suit I had no idea what a huge undertaking it would be. So many little details to get just right. I relied heavily on the help of friends to get to where I am today and I want to recognize Kevin Doyle (TK-172) and Stacie Hanson (TK-796) without whom this would not have been possible. I got Bly with a little help from my friends

Armor – Sci-Fire
Helmet – OSCS
Pauldron - Fidelis
DC-15 and DC-15S – Sci Fire (Hyperfirm)
Nocs – EVO3
Pistols/holsters – EVO3
Shoes – Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars :p

I went through several incarnations of Bly to get it just right. I first wore it in October of 2009 and I’ve been upgrading and changing it ever since. Here are some of the incarnations of Bly:

First appearance, October 2009 – Factory Fresh!

April 2010 – Some weathering added. I was having holster issues at this time, so they are not there.

May 2010 - Here I had some paint issues I didn't like and there were some other nits I fixed.

Early July 2010 – Repaint attempt #1 – repainted to brown all necessary parts but the color was too dark and too red. Added clips to kama straps, added stripes to helmet. Still having holster issues.

Late July 2010 – Repainted brown parts, replaced holster straps, added more weathering, replaced helmet stripes, changed chest ammo strap.

Still a few minor changes to make, mostly with unseen parts such as suspension/fit issues, but overall I’m pleased with it and ready for action! :D

Those pics are AMAZING! You look like you walked off the set (yes I do realize they were CGI in the movie...quiet lol). Great work!! :)

My bly helmet is still sitting in its upainted, unfinished trimmed form on a desk right next to me as I type this. By any chance do you know the names and manufacturer of the brown and yellow paints that you used?

it looks awesome...really makes me want to finish mine

Thanks! The paints are:

(Brown) Model Master Light Earth FS 30140
(Yellow) Rust-oleum Farm Equipment Yellow (aka Old Caterpillar Yellow)

Good luck with your Bly helmet!

I agree, great pics. Seeing a well made clone really makes me realize what a shame it is there weren't any actual physical costumes made for the movies.

thanks a lot. I've seen so many different colors named but this seems to capture it very well
