"The Predator" from Men Who Stare at Goats: Has this been made?

I just saw this movie for the first time last night and I had a good laugh.
That tool that Clooney carries, I think he called it the Predator. Is this a real item? Was it custom made? Has anyone made one? Does anybody care? :lol

Its based on a real tool, and if I remember correctly has now changed its name to something like "the defender" as it was seen to explain its self defence aspect as opposed to an attack tool. Don't know if it looks exactly like the screen used one but there is a video of the original creator of it showing what you can do with it on one of the viral sites.
