What you might be able to do is get a piece matt backing from Michels and cut a circle to the size that you want, spraypaint it to match the frame if that is what you want, cut the outer diameter (the square) to the size of the glass in the frame.
Once that is done take out the glass put in the matt colored side out,put glass back then place picture and backing done. Hope this helps

If I remember right, its a gold leafed peice of wood. Even though its a movie prop, it would fit the period if you just did that. I would opt ofr a gold leafed piec of Luan. Or you can still opt for a gold peice of matt. Gails Office supply in Wyandotte used to sell that same type of matt a few years ago.
