The Making Of Sharp Tusk: A First Time Build.

Hello everyone! I know this is probably a little early to post this but my lovely latex P1 hands will be delivered today and I'll start painting them on my next day off. :) I have a very 'low tech' build for the yautja I've created named Sharp Tusk. He'll be my first full suit build so I plan to update this thread as I go along. I'm super excited, even knowing this will take a while! :D

Pictures will come as soon as I can post them!

Good luck fella and welcome to the crazy ride.
Thanks! And you can call me fella is you want. lol Though I should probably note somewhere that I'm actually very much a female. I just prefer my preds male.

ha, you know you are excited when you know it's getting delivered today but posting about it anyway without.   :D

Thanks, guys! My package is sitting at home (as I'm heading to work) so I gave a little squee of happiness when I looked inside! I'll take pics ASAP. My mom had tried on the gloves and was chasing her co workers so at least I know they should fit without padding. I still plan to wear cotton gloves under them.

In the mean time, I need to talk about what I just treated myself to. I've been drooling over this baby for months but I held out...
Check the photo! This little puppy retails for $160 here and is seen as higher end at my craft store. I decided to pick it up today so I can start painting on my day off. That said, I just happened to check my coupon app. Lucky me!! I got this bad boy for $80! :D The cashier high fived me and said it's been the best use of the coupon. I asked her if I could come back tomorrow for the air compressor ($360) and her manager approved it! Gods, I'm so excited! Haha

So! Any advice on paints, fellas? :)

FW inks or Createx illustration inks are the norm. However I'm trying liquitex inks when I've made my P1 mask. Just remember to add a layer of Pros aide first.

Sorry matie. Didn't mean to offend you.

Alright! Pictures! Just washed these puppies up. I was inspecting them and noticed some holes at the joining of the thumb. Is there any way to patch this prior to painting or should I not worry about it? I'll be trimming the flash and using it for practice with my airbrush. :)

Welcome to the Lair!  I had those pinhole...holes in my hands as well.  I chose to leave them as is and I didn't notice any changes/bigger tears in them after wearing them for awhile.  Sweat drips out of them nicely and there is some air movement through the hand whenever I move my fingers.  That being said, be careful trimming the flashing as you could potentially make the holes bigger and create more work for yourself if you choose to patch the holes.

Is that Prosaide after every colour or just first onto the latex and then base colour? Sorry I'm also about to jump into the airbrushing latex area.

What do you recommend to seal and finish the paint with last Buddy I ask coz your in the UK and could poss point me in the direct of a supplier?

No only one layer, let it go tacky then start painting. Some people claim that they don't use any sort of adhesion primer. But I'd recommend against it. Pros aide is widly available in the UK online. A quick search would find a supplier. I'm pretty sure Mouldlife stock it.

Thank you! I think I'll leave them. I'll be trimming ASAP between work shifts. This gives me a chance to get ahold of some prosaide too. :)
